Tips to stay fit this Thanksgiving‏

In addition to turkey and all the fixings, put some movement on your Thanksgiving menu. Research shows that regular exercise can help prevent diabetes complications such as heart disease and stroke.

Exercise doesn’t have to be running a marathon or bench-pressing 300 pounds. As American Diabetes Month® draws to a close, take action by adding in some exercise this Thanksgiving and throughout the holiday season.

Here’s how:

Get your heart pumping. Find a form of exercise that works for you.
Do the math. Vacuuming? Moving furniture? How many calories can you burn?
Don’t let diabetes get in the way. Get advice to manage your diabetes while exercising.
Exercise is key to stopping diabetes and its complications. Who knows? Maybe you could start a new Thanksgiving tradition with family and loved ones: flag football, turkey trot 5K, snowball fights or other fun. It’s just what the doctor ordered.

Happy Thanksgiving from the American Diabetes Association. And thank you for your support of American Diabetes Month. Collectively, we can come together and Stop Diabetes® once and for all.
