well, i`m back on dialysis. the kidney i received in may 2007 began to fail last week. i look foward to being back on IHD almost full time and interacting with old friends and making new ones.

Admin for IHateDialysis 2008 - 2014, retired.
Jenna is our daughter, bad bladder damaged her kidneys.
Was on in-center hemodialysis 2003-2007.
7 yr transplant lost due to rejection.
She did PD Sept. 2013 - July 2017
Found a swap living donor using social media, friends, family.
New kidney in a paired donation swap July 26, 2017.

it`s been doing ok for a while, and i mean ok,(not great). i needed a heart catherization to place a stent. the dye they use sent it over the edge.

Pyelonephritis (began at 8 mos old)
Home haemo 1980-1985 (self-cannulated with 15 gauge sharps)
Cadaveric transplant 1985
New upper-arm fistula April 2008
Uldall-Cook catheter inserted May 2008
Haemo-dialysis, self care unit June 2008
(2 1/2 hours X 5 weekly)
Self-cannulated, 15 gauge blunts, buttonholes.
Living donor transplant (sister-in law Kathy) Feb. 2009
First failed kidney transplant removed Apr. 2009
Second trx doing great so far...all lab values in normal ranges

I've lost 2, so I know the feeling. It does suck to have only had it for a few years, but it's a few years of freedom. My second kidney came only a bit less than a month after I started dialysis the second time, so you never know what could happen

I'm sorry that the transplanted kidney is no longer working.
My husband (katonsdad) had a transplant 12 years ago. His transplant stopped working a couple of weeks ago. They wanted him to have a heart cath a year ago, but decided not to do it because the dye would have killed what was left of his kidney. Now that the transplant has failed, they went ahead and did the heart cath. Luckly, they did not need to do surgery on his heart. I hope both of you can get another transplant soon.
