OMG, I got the letter of confirmation in the mail today from my transplant co-ordintar, I am "officially" on "The List" awaiting a kidney transplant now!    :clap;     :bandance;     :2thumbsup;      :yahoo;

OMG, I'm so excited and yet so nervous now! LOL I'll probably jump when I hear the phone ring every time!     :rofl;     :rofl;

So I have to fill out a form stating phone numbers of friends/family where I can be located other than my home phone number.     :P   I plan to give them my cell phone number too!     ;D

Diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease at age 19.
Renal Failure at age 38 (2010) came about 2 hrs close to dying. Central line put in an emergency.
Began dialysis on Aug 15, 2010.
Creatine @ time of dialysis: 27. I almost died.
History of High Blood Pressure
I have Neuropathy and Plantar Fasciitis in My Feet
AV Fistula created in Nov. 2011, still buzzing well!
Transplanted in April, 2013. My husband and I participated in the Living Donor paired exchange program. I nicknamed my kidney "April"
Married 18 yrs,  Mom to 3 kids to twin daughters (One that has PKD)  and a high-functioning Autistic son

Oh, this is such wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful news!  You keep that letter, and once you get your new kidney, frame it as a memento!  I'm just so thrilled for you!  Congratulations!  You deserve some good news. :cuddle;

Admin for IHateDialysis 2008 - 2014, retired.
Jenna is our daughter, bad bladder damaged her kidneys.
Was on in-center hemodialysis 2003-2007.
7 yr transplant lost due to rejection.
She did PD Sept. 2013 - July 2017

May your  wait  be  a short  one!! 

Do  keep your  bags  pack,  as  well  as  a list of  last  minute  things   (toiletries,  phone  numbers,  cell phone  charger,  ).


I  remember  getting that  letter,  it  was  super  exciting!!      Yesterday   (Nov 9)  was  my  1yr  pancreas/kidneyversary.

I'm getting my extended list of phone numbers faxed over to my hospital which is an  hour's drive away, so they have it updated. Lastnight I slept with the phone by the bed     ;D

I'm going to be getting a bag packed soon, too!     ;D 

LOL I'm giggling about the phone bill, keeping it paid, no problems there     :thumbup;      ;D

That's wonderful news and I'll now keep everything crossed that the wait won't be too long.  For my first transplant I had to carry a beeper (cell phones not so common back in 1984) and missed the first call since the batteries were dead and I didn't know...waited another 5 months for the next call and that little bean worked for 23 trouble free years.  I'm wanting even more for you.   :grouphug;

New upper-arm fistula April 2008
Uldall-Cook catheter inserted May 2008
Haemo-dialysis, self care unit June 2008
(2 1/2 hours X 5 weekly)
Self-cannulated, 15 gauge blunts, buttonholes.
Living donor transplant (sister-in law Kathy) Feb. 2009
First failed kidney transplant removed Apr.  2009
Second trx doing great so far...all lab values in normal ranges

Thanks Monrein!     :cuddle;   I asked about a beeper and my doctor said they're a thing of the past, I think because most people have cell phones.  I asked because I knew someone who had a transplant a few years back but carried one. I am wondering now if she did not have a cell phone then.  I have a cell phone so he said I wouldn't need one.

OMG, that must have been so frustrating about the batteries, how long afterwards did you find out you had missed the call?    I'm so glad the one you got 5 mos later has been working great!     :flower;     :cheer:   Congrats to you with your successful kidney!      :cuddle;       :cheer:

I dropped my cell phone this am down a flight of stairs, by accident and it landed hard on my cermamic tiled floor in my hallway downstairs, I was so worried it was broken and my heart went up in my throat. Turns out when I picked it up, it worked fine      :rofl;   I was pretty relieved      :thumbup;
