Good evening! My name is Allie, I'm 22 years old currently residing in Phoenix. I was diagnosed with Wegener's Granulumatosis when i was 10 and been in chronic renal failure since but fortunately started dialysis about two months ago. I've been using a neck cath for hemodialysis and getting a fistula created tomorrow. All of my family members have been tested as living donors and were not found to be matches with one [hopeful] exception, fingers crossed! Despite frequent hospitalizations over the years, I've managed to maintain a very active lifestyle as a former, competitive swimmer; unimpeded in hiking, jogging cooking and traveling. Recently graduated from Arizona State University and hope to soon pursue my MS back East in the near future!

WOW!! Welcome Allie ! You're a real go-getter. We like those around here... well ok I do, specially the young ladies!!  >:D No, just kidding... well just about the young ladies thing :)

Seriously though - I'm so glad that you're managing to keep active and persue the things YOU want to and not let the disease win. I'm a champion of that attitude myself and support anyone striving to make the most of life with this difficult chronic condition!

I'm so glad you've joined our community and hope to see more from you soon - and good luck with the fistula creation!

My mom had a chest cath, graft, and now a fistula which is doing extrememly well.

I see you had your fistula surgery yesterday, so I imagine it'll be a few days before you are back.

How are you enjoying this nice weather we've been having? I'm so glad it finally broke... this was a brutal summer!

9.28.10:   Began training for Home Nocturnal Hemodialysis on a Fresenius Baby K
10.21.10: Began creating buttonholes with 15ga needles
11.13.10: Our first nocturnal home treatment!
