Rerun,

Even if there are an uneven number of folks the exchange can still work.

Say there are five people: A B C D and E.

Here is how an exchange can work. The first row of people will give gifts to the people on the second row:

A  B  C  D  E
B  C  D  E  A

That way everyone sends a gift and everyone receives a gift. Easy, peasy!  :beer1;

I thought that was how it worked anyway.. you have your list of names, and you pull a name out of a hat for each one on the list

Right, if you have 29 gift givers and 29 gift receivers, no problem!
The problem is when someone neglects to send a gift, and it's too late to remove them. We had to send a replacement gift, and this is Bad!

I had to ask my husband. He's the economist, and is brilliant with numbers. I have other talents though! I have common sense (most of the time) and I've heard common sense isn't so common. You, Rerun, have uncanny wit, which is a talent you cannot learn in school!

What I like is pretty simple.

I like picture books of your local area.  State or country or county or city, or village or township or hamlet or camping spot or where you like to fish or where you like to play sports.

I like sheet music for the piano.  Or music books for the piano.

I like DVDs of sacred music.

I like mystery novels.

I would also like a small statue of the Virgin Mary.

I am crazy about light+color and my house is FULL of candle holders in every conceivable shade of glass. Any kind of colored glass thrills me: canisters, suncatchers, paperweights, you name it.

I appreciate anything handmade. I actually subjected Andy to a kind of litmus test when we were dating: I crocheted him a stained glass afghan for our first Christmas. He passed, I kept him and we still use the afghan.

I have a (fairly) extensive dolphin collection. While I don't really add to it anymore, I will if it's something unusual and/or one of a kind.

My favorite art style is Art Nouveau. I love the work of Alphonse Mucha.

I am a Christmas junkie and you can never, EVER go wrong with an ornament. Decorating the tree is my THING; I look forward to it all year and have spent the last several months acquiring ornaments. More ornaments! More! MORE!

My favorite colors are green and purple and the order of those two changes... mmm, hourly.

And of course, there is chocolate. In the end, there is ALWAYS chocolate.

I should tell my husband's likes. He loves pens! His favourite colour is purple. He likes collecting tool "gadgets", T-shirts (size M [nothing obscene]). He also likes Hot Wheels cars (not Matchbox!) He's a huge NASCAR fan (favourite driver is Jimmie Johnson) Also likes the Oakland A's & the Oakland Raiders. He likes Reese's Peanut Butter Cups once in a while but he really loves gum! Favourite actor is Clint Eastwood. I think that's it. LOL!

I've never done one of these, so I figured I might as well..

1.) What is your favorite dessert? Lemon Meringue pie or any kind of ice cream.

2.) What are some of your favorite hobbies? I read, watch movies, write, and take lots of pictures

3.) What colors do you like? Emerald green

4.) What is your favorite candy? Jolly Ranchers, Werther's, fuzzy peaches, jelly beans.. any hard candy, really.. except for peppermints.. I really don't like those

5.) Do you collect anything? Stuffed animals, books, movies, dust

6.) What is your style? I'm a ratty tshirt and sweat pants kinda gal.  I don't care for extravagance.  I find it gaudy

7.) Allergic to anything?  Nothing that I would expect to get in a gift

8.) If t-shirt or sweatshirt : Can be funny, from your area, unique or unusual.  I don't mind swear words or poop humor.. pretty much anything goes.. size XXL or as big as possible

9.) Would you like a local item from your SS's home town?  oh yeah. And the tackier, the better.  I love that kind of stuff. Case in point, a few years ago, when I spend Christmas in the hospital, the nurses gave me a bag of snowman poop, which was just a bag of little marshmallows.  I thought it was hilarious

10.) Anything else your SS should know?  When it comes to scented things, can't go wrong with vanilla or strawberry.  I'm also a bit of a gadget nut. I like stuff that does stuff. it doesn't have to be huge or anything, I once had a pen with a magnifying glass in it, so any item that has more than one use would probably work.  I once went nutty in a Radio Shack, when I found a flashlight with a radio in it, and I have one of those flypen computer in a pen deals, but never really did anything with it cuz it didn't recognize my writing.. *LOL*

I am not much of a desserts person, but anything sweet will not go to waste around here, no, not even marzipan, that grotesque stuff that lures you in by looking so delicious but turns out to be almond-flavored sand.

Allergic to both pennicillian and zithromax. In fact, I don't react well to most antibiotics. Please don't buy me any. I have sensitive skin all of a sudden, so please no lotions/soaps/bath salts/etc. I love floral scents, really do not care for anything food-scented.

Favourite color is a deep orange. I like earth tones in general, and look crap in pastels. There is very little blue in my house as it clashes with the décor.

Style: classic, dramatic, just short of outrageous. I don't eat animals, but I'll wear them. House is decorated with an even mix of African and Asian influence. Love both, prefer the African.

I collect art. Or as they say in anthropology “Capital-A Art”.

I like fitted Ts with a v-neck, usually a size small. I will wear oversized shirts to bed, though. Don't really wear sweatshirts, although I am not adverse to a fitted hoodie. Something understated with your city name or something, I probably won’t wear any humor shirts unless I find it really clever, and must be g-rated or I’ll be calling you to explain the naughty words to my children….

I like reading, especially drawn to the most challenging of lit. I own a Nook and I find it delightful. Favourite authors include Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Thomas Mann, Heinrich Boll, Kurt Vonnegut, Charles Dickens, JM Coetzee. In the theatrical realm I am a straight up absurdist, give me Edward Albee or Christopher Durang any day. I think I own everything Tennessee Williams that ever was, but you could try....

I adore drinking teas, chatting with people, writing to friends, having adventures in the outdoors with the family, traveling to exotic locales. Love languages, especially Spanish/French/Welsh/Arabic. Anything with a quirky story behind it and/or cultural significance would be fantastic.

Yes to something from your area. Please! You must!

I am a liberal vegetarian atheist. Probably should have started there since it tells you all you need know. ;D

This is what I would like from my secret santa:

I would like for my SS to go out and buy a journal.  It can be a crappy old notebook, I don't care.  And then, from the time that you learn you are my secret santa until the time you get fed up, I'd like for you to write in your journal your thoughts of the day.  I don't care what you write...it can be your grocery list!  Anything that gives me a little insight into your daily life.  You can write about your deepest, darkest secret.  You can write about your dreams, your fears, or you can write about the mundane crap of the day.  You don't have to write every day; you can write in it only once if that is what suits you.  You can just draw pictures if you want.  Doesn't matter.  You can even make it a scrapbook if you prefer.

If that's too much work, or if you are uncomfortable with that, I'd like a copy of your favorite book, perhaps signed by you and with a short explanation about why this is your favorite.

1.) What is your favorite dessert? Really good chewy chocolate chip cookies. Even when I'm trying to lose weight, I CAN NOT resist them! So do be kind and DON"T send any.  :rofl;

2.) What are some of your favorite hobbies? I study Russian and would love a VERY short book of Russian poetry! I also enjoy making cards and scrapbooking.

3.) What colors do you like? Really anything, but I lean toward teals and black.

4.) What is your favorite candy? dark chocolate

5.) Do you collect anything? I don't collect too many things, but I'm addicted to stickers that I can use in scrapbooking.

6.) What is your style? I wish I had style. Unfortunately, I'm just kind of, well, me.

7.) Allergic to anything? Ack! I'm allergic to some perfumes. And men's cologne seems to be the worst. Please do NOT send me any men's cologne!

8.) If t-shirt or sweatshirt : large for wearing out, or XL for lounging in.

9.) Would you like a local item from your SS's home town? No, I would not like it, I would LOVE it!

10.) Anything else your SS should know? Hmmm. I am not picky. But I love shopping for others!  :2thumbsup;
