Welcom Carldog! Glad you joined us. My family roots are in PA: Butler-right outside of Pittsburgh. You certainly got shoved into this kidney world rudely! You will find great information here and a lot of wonderful support from people who really do understand what you are living through. We're always here for you. Welcome to IHD.

What a rude way to find out that your kidneys have gone south!
You'll find lots of good folks here, Carldog!

Hi Carldog and welcome to IHD. OMG it is so hard to start dialysis in a Emergency situation. You don't know what is happening. Then you go through this "Honeymoon" stage where you feel so much better that you like dialysis. Well, that is shortlived!
I'm so glad you found us. Come here when you have questions and best of luck getting settled in. We are here for you.

Holy cow Carl!, I didn't know your BP could even get that high! That high blood pressure (hypertension) sure can do it's damage unknowingly. That's why it is dubbed "the silent killer". Well, your with us now and that's what it's important. I'm taking a guess that before dialysis if you look back, hindsight may having you think to some "symptoms" of CKD/ENRD. Fatigue, nasusea, and with that kind of high blood pressure you may have been very well (I'm taking a good guess you did) had headaches, if not severe. Everyone different and you may not have felt ill at all, but these are some of the symptoms. Easy to overlook or confuse with something else. Anyway, I remember when my husband started D. Gosh he felt good finally becuase he was ill so long.I agree there a type of honeymoon phase, but..keeping withthe renal diet, watching your fluid & sodium intake, can be a big benefit to you in helping keeping you feeling your best. Glad you're here!

Hey & Welcome, Carl. My husband has ESRD and does Dialysis at home! When we first found out, we were devastated! But long story short, He is doing much better now! It aint perfect, but it aint bad either!
My mother, God rest her soul, was born in Minisink Hills, PA. I love those Pocono Mountains. Pennsylvania is another Very Beautiful State within our United States. She was of the Heckman/Zimmerman clan! Wow, just talking about her gets me to crying, because she was a giver to her family!
Welcome and ask any question you have, someone will have the answer on IHD! God has trully blessed us with this Site and you will find that the case also!
