Keep Calm, Carry on.

« on: August 16, 2011, 06:38:14 PM »

Hi Everyone,

My name is Mishy (Like Squishy). It is short of a famous song by The Beatles. I'm not a n00b to Either The world of healthcare. I have been doing this since birth. Which would mean 22 years next wednesday. I'm also not new to online kidney forums. I've stayed off for a long time due to personal reasons and decided I was ready to come back.

So, Basics about me.

I'm Mishy, I'm almost 22. I love Documentaries,books and other things people would consider probably at times "boring" or far too dorky for their liking. (Yes, I do speak L33t if you were wondering. ;) ) I have a life of amazing people. My close friends and loving boyfriend of almost a year. I'm currently trying to finish up school. And like many people my age have no idea what to do after so. But, I consider life a journey. I have a life of activism. Besides Chronic illness my passions about humans extends to things such as equality,feminism,sex positive activism,disability rights, especially those of mental nature. Also I'm big into promoting positive body image. Currently I run a Sexuality and disability munch in Boston, MA where I live. I work on bringing the idea of not letting a illness stop you from your basic quality of life. I love board games, hanging out with my close friends, exploring new places,art of all kinds. I'm a natural foodie at heart. And constantly suffering from wanderlust. I'm generally a very positive happy go lucky, laid back kind of girl. I get my stuff done. I'm a true ISFP and Virgo at heart. I have horrible insomnia. And believe Google + is definitely better than Facebook. I refuse to fuel flame wars, and probably do better in person than online. I am an extrovert overall.

Medical.

Born without a bladder. Then lost kidney function at 11. Dialysis, first transplant. After 5 years on Hemodialysis I got my transplant "Ziggy" 07-28-2010. And it's been amazing since then. I'm good. I believe in living my life to the fullest and just do what I gotta do. I have other stuff, but I don't feel like rehashing it all now. But, despite my age, I'm experienced in this all. I've done this my entire life and I don't regret or feel bad about it. I met amazing people in my life through it all. Anyways, thank you all.

And, I love this icon the best:  :bandance; So, I may use it a lot. Also, I may use this too =^.^= :3 Because I'm a l33t speaking dorky nekogirl at heart and nothing will stop that. :3

Well, Howdy.I love Boston, and call it the Walking City.  Haven't been there in the winter tho, so maybe I would change that to the Cross Country City. What a winter you had!  And what a blazing summer you are having.  It sounds like you were made for Boston; having a good attitude on your kidney problem and what ever else there is.  Sounds like nothing gets you down...or down for very long.   So..... :welcomesign;

Wait... neekogirl??? oh, darn, I thought you wrote something else!!!  >:D :rofl;

Don't worry we love unique, interesting geek girls. Oh wait, I see you have a loving bf... no, we don't love you anymore.

JUST KIDDING!

You're very welcome here. I hope whatever personal reasons drove you from other online communities in the past doesn't rear its ugly head (mine's ugly enough already) and pull you from here.

You've lead a full life - full of challenges but also full of good things. I really like your attitude to make the most of it, do what you can, stay active and enjoy your passions and interests. Good for you!

Great to see you again!  However, pardon the uninitiate, but what on earth is L33t?  I speak three languages and am learning a fourth but I don't know that one!
Please don't stray again!

erm I believe "L33t" translates to "Elite" which is what some sorts like to think of themselves in that sort of community (not meaning Mishy of course). It's all part of the wannabe hacker, script kiddy, computer thing.

Yes, Ahem... " wannabe hacker" ... no wannabes here. ;). L33t is a computer/gaming lingo that hackers will use to be able to talk to each other and at times not have others understand, it was harder to decipher. Let me put it this way, I do done HTML for fun. I've been tweaking my tumblr for the past week or so of awful insomnia. Like, the whole "<3" symbol came from this. Given, I'm on no "elite" level as my dad and some of my friends, but I have done some pretty great computery things. :D

Well I did write I didn't include you in my definition!!  :rofl;

I'm the first to find love for the geek girls (but they don't seem to find love for me, or are taken lol) ... I dunno though just personally I reckon the leet speak is a bit... I dunno... actually I think I'll just keep my opinion to myself lest Mishy start a e-vengance against me.

Maybe this is why the geek gals have no love for me.  :rofl; :rofl; :rofl; :rofl;

think it's time to go eat some jelly babies and watch Doctor Who.....
