Keep on going...It can't get any worse, can it?

« on: June 28, 2011, 01:08:44 PM »

 :thumbup; Tomorrow, June 29 at 0630, I am scheduled to receive a living donor transplant at the University of Washington Hospital! We've been trying to schedule this for over a year, and the day is finally here! Looking forward to it and am apprehensive at the same time...sure hope all goes well. I'm especially concerned for my donor, Andrea, she is one of the kindest, most caring people I've ever met.

I haven't posted much here on the board, but I can assure you that many of you have helped me through three years of dialysis with your posts!  I'll stay in touch during the upcoming days and weeks, and wish you all the best! :thx;

Well, it's been eight days, the kidney is functioning very well! I had a little bout with dehydration This last Tuesday, spent two nights in tha hospital on iv fluids, but am home now, and feeling pretty good! It's so hard to get used to drinking 2-3 liters of fluids every day, it's a real culture shock after dialysis! :oops;  Thank you all for your well wishes. I really appreciate it! :grouphug;

Yeah, it took me about 6 months post-transplant to stop gagging when I started to chug down a large gulp of water.  Old habits die hard!
