I can't think of anything else for her oral fixation to get away from cigarettes. Everything I think of is a lollipop, bracks, lifesavers, jolly rancher type things other than the popscile stick idea mentioned before also.

it would be ideal if they would quit, but i doubt they will. Dont get me wrong, i dont think they are trying to make me fail or anything, but when i ask them to not smoke around me, or dont let me smoke their cigs, but they put them right there, right in my face, right in my hand basically.... then im back at square one...
i did really well but i broke today... fresh start in the morning! I am praying to be able to do this cold turkey its the best way for me i think, i tried just having a few when i neeeeeeeeeed one, but i end up smoking them anyway... so i might as well suck it up and just stop! I can do this.
I got me some dum dums, jolly ranchers, and lemon drops! I am going to exersize when the urge is too strong... since i need to lose more wieght too
I can do this i can do this i must do this i WILL do this

Gee they could at least make an EFFORT to be supportive of you and not smoke in your face or put the temptation right there in front of you. I think that's pretty poor personally.

Have you considered wearing a lighter outfit to the next weigh-in?
Or just not eat for the 24 hours prior to the next appointment!  Or maybe both!

GLM, that's brilliant - sorry I missed this earlier.  Have you tried cleaning your teeth when you next really want a ciggie?  Apparently it can help (and has the added benefit of keeping your dentist happy.)  Good luck with it all!

oo thats a good idea too! I also plan, after the first month of being smoke free, im treating myself to a teeth whitening... My teeth are surprisingly still pretty white even though ive smoked for 11 years... but they could be whiter ;)

Great ideas everyone!
I went to the store today, i got mints, lemon drops, sugar free hard candy, dumdums, gum, and jolly ranchers! Figured i try a bit of everything :) see which works the best! I couldnt find the cinnomin sticks, so i am going to go to walmart to search for those when i get the chance.

I was going to get the electric cigs... but they do not make them nicotene free!!! :( I am going to do some interenet search for them, surely they exsist! If they dont, perhaps I can become an inventor ha!

First of all, good for you! I just quit smoking for the fourth time (I previously quit for three, four and seven years)....I used the electronic cigarette and the gum. I had a relapse in December but have almost six months now cigarette free. I am home all day without the distractions of work and so on, so this was the most challenging. But if I can do it, anyone can. It's a horribly addictive habit and there are programs and options to help with quitting. Hang in there, you CAN do it and all the best to you! Congratulations on the wonderful news. I am rooting for you. I did buy an e-cig that had a no nicotine cartridge, so you maybe can check into that, there are different manufacturers. Personally, I think it helped initially to be able to puff on that thing but I could see that I had to let it go eventually. I wasn't sure about the ingredients myself.

I just got a call saying that if i quit smoking, lose 4 lbs, go to the dentist, and get a pap, "we can get the ball rolling" That is good right???
I am finishing smoking tonight, and in the morning I will no longer smoke! I can do this!! Now that I know it IS possible to get a tx!!
Oh im so excited! I hope it doesnt take long to find out about lviing donors, hope one of them matches and is healthy enough to give!

I am borrowing my brothers e cig, but it does have nicoteien. im not sure how i feel about it lol but i havent had a cig at all since i got it, and i have only had a few "hits" off that thing.. the flavor is nasty! But i like that i can pretent im smoking, so HOPE to find a non nicotein option for this one...

wow... u quit a long time to start back up again, so does the craving stay even after years?? the longest i went has been a few months...

What about the candy cigarrettes if they stoill make them or the gum cigars. The chocolate cigars and cigareetes would be a bad thing I guess, but I never did gain weight for eating so much chocolate like others have said they do.

Also, what about the e-Cig without the fluid, just something to put in your mouth?

Of course, i was re reading earlier posts, and realized the way i was saying it sounds naughty too lol how else could it sound when talking about an oral fixation though!

I hope i can wean myself off the ecigs, im sure i could eventually... im not sure how safe those things are, but then again cigs arent safe either ae they lol

Great news. Can you get there in 4 hours or less from where you are tho. Travel time is one thing to consider not to mention keeping an eye on where construction is unless your going to fly. That would be one thing to ask then when talk to them is how much time you have to get there if you get called. Good Luck

So did you quit smoking? I just came across this http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/462350
During Jenna's last evaluation they said they would not consider any donors who were smokers. I don't know if that's still true.

I hadnt had any cigs since the 4th of July, until i got the semi crap news of my abnormality, i bought 2 packs, but i havent smoked  them all, im trying to be good but the stress level... i broke. I intend to finish them up and hopefully never smoke again. I was doing so well....
The peoria tc said that they would let me have it even if i smoke, they prefer i quit but it isnt manditory. While in indy it IS manditory. And im hoping to get listed at both places, but I still have a while before indy will list me anyway, due to my weight and i need some more tests, and a psych eval for them. By the time I get all that done I will be quit completely. I have my ecig for the times I need a "pick me up" but I got the nicotene free kind, so it should be acceptable.
I also joined curves to lose the pesky 10 lbs they want me to.
Now i just have to wait until wed to find out what the biopsy shows (for some reason they wont tell me over the phone) and hope that its nothing terrible...

Quitting smoking was hard for me. Really hard. It's been one day at a time, 30 years. (Jeez I am old!) LOL
