Hi all,
Well I have to have a colonostaphy do to some adominal cramping and unexplained diereah. I'm just wondering, how will this affect my dialysis? I read where they will have to stop my iron and any blood thinners, which I'm on heperin 4 days before the procedure. As you know I have a graft and it's so finaky that I'm afraid no heprin will clot it off then I will have to have a revision. I suppose my doctor could better answer these concerns but was wanting your input as well.

Husband had that and it wasn't too bad. I would defiantly talk to your doctor about stopping the blood thinner. We had to stop hubby's blood thinner last week for a EMG and ended up in A&E with angina symptoms. he had his heart attack in Feb, another specialist said to day that you should never stop your blood thinner. Who is right. One tells you one thing, another says some thing else. He got a choice whether to be anesthetized or go it cold turkey and he did that, they sprayed his throat with some thing to numb it.Sullidog you will be OK, but ask your doctor to make sure.

Sorry Sulli I've got it arse to tit haven't I.  a colonostaphy is the   ar*e  bit and endoscopy is the mouth bit    I would go for being  anesthetized  with that. Pickalax comes to mind.

I just had mine this January before my 50th b-day. In my case i didn't come off my blood thinners. I did have a blood draw prior to my colonoscopy, but it was over before i knew it and they didn't find anything anyway, at least nothing bad.  Guess it depends on the physiology of the patient.
