I have been struggling with BKV during the last few weeks. This week, my doctor has changed my medicines greatly: cutting Prograf to almost a half and replacing Myfortic by Leflunomide. Hopefully this change can fight off my BKV, but the risk of rejection will have also increased. If you had experienced BKV, would you please share your experiences: how to deal with it, how to change the medicines and what new medicines are used?

Jie,

I forgot what I knew about this virus so I had to look it up here http://cjasn.asnjournals.org/content/3/Supplement_2/S68.full (sorry I don't know how to link and you may have already read this article but I thought there is good information in there and it explains why your being treated as you are. Good for all transplant patients to read because this virus is far more prevalent in the first year than I realized.

Hope you have a smooth recovery from here on.
