Born with autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease
1995 - AV Fistula placed
Dec 7, 1999 cadaver transplant saved me from childhood dialysis!
10 transplant years = spleenectomy, gall bladder removed, liver biopsy, bone marrow aspiration.
July 27, 2010 Started dialysis for the first time ever.
June 21, 2011 2nd kidney nonrelated living donor
September 2013 Liver Cancer tumor.
October 2013 Ablation of liver tumor.
Now scans every 3 months to watch for new tumors.
Now Status 7 on the wait list for a liver.
How about another decade of solid health?

The donor is trying to phone the doc, because she hasn't actually spoken to him (just the transplant co-ordinator)

She remains hopefull (I am not)  :'(

Pyelonephritis (began at 8 mos old)
Home haemo 1980-1985 (self-cannulated with 15 gauge sharps)
Cadaveric transplant 1985
New upper-arm fistula April 2008
Uldall-Cook catheter inserted May 2008
Haemo-dialysis, self care unit June 2008
(2 1/2 hours X 5 weekly)
Self-cannulated, 15 gauge blunts, buttonholes.
Living donor transplant (sister-in law Kathy) Feb. 2009
First failed kidney transplant removed Apr.  2009
Second trx doing great so far...all lab values in normal ranges

Don't give up hope.   They told me it would be a 5 to 7 year wait for a kidney.....I got one after 2 years. Never mind what they say...they don't know.

i've been avoiding the computer along with almost everything else so this is the first i've heard of this. keep your head up (well hold it for you) know you are loved and the only way to go from here is up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

   -glaucoma and surgery for that
     -cataract surgery twice on same eye (2000 - 2002). another one growing in good eye
     - vitrectomy in good eye post tx November 2003, totally blind for 4 months due to complications with meds and infection

Diagnosed with ESRD June 29, 1999
1st Dialysis - July 4, 1999
Last Dialysis - December 2, 2000

I wish the surgeon would call back your donor, that just seems rude after many day's. I can expect a day or two due to their busy scheadule, but comeon, have some decency to call someone back to answer an important question.

Des I am thinking about you often and how sad you must feel to be so close to having a second chance. I know I would be a hot mess right now too! But sometimes when I lose faith and hope, and feel like the machine is draining my life away, I remind myself of a couple of things....

1. No one is promised a tomorrow.

2. Some people live a whole lifetime and never really live. Instead of asking "why me" think "why not me." Without suffering there would be no compassion.

I know this is hard to remember and it is difficult to keep your chin up, when you are low in a valley, but I believe in you, in your donor, and in miracles. Hang tough friend!
