after i was released from the hospitol the doc had given me several percriptions to take
one of them icant recall the name for it gave me a very strange feeling

i wasent sure at first but then i tried again and i knew
the problem was i would take the pill and it would make my heart volume slow down or it would make it racy
and ii would get up to go to another room and i would be out of breath..

i did call the nurse and told her i wasent going to take the pill anymore
and the doc said that was fine.
as to find out the side effects did cause the heart volum to make  you feel weird plus insomia. which of course i was getting... that doesnt help when you need to sleep

Awful!!  and was it percoset?  i 'think' thats what i was give that does that to me, and i told them NOT to give me after a minor surgury i had and they did it anyway.  I felt i couldnt remember to breath.. Im sorry for your going through that.  Terrible feeling..

There are many drugs that can cause heart palipataions. Even combing certain medications together. Caffeine, nicotine can add to this. A good place to start with is by calling the pharmacy you got the prescription from. Pharamacist are happy to speak with you about your medictions. I would also inform the dr. just to be safe. If ever  you feel chest tightness, etc... get prompt attn. Certain sinus and cold meds do that to me. I hate that feeling. Yuck

it was called metoprolol

and no it didnt give me chest tightness

just made me feel windy where i couldnt do anything

the doc said it was ok for me to quit taking tem

They took me off two other blood pressure medicines and prescriped metropolol (Toprol) instead after the transplant.  It took a week or so the adjust to it.  I was feeling "odd" for a few days, but not now and my BP is lowest it has ever been.    It is used for many heart related reasons, but used a lot for High Blood Pressure.   Why was the doctor prescriping the medicine for you?  Did he put you on another med to replace it?  How is your blood pressure?  Sorry for all the questions -- just wondering why the doctor would prescribe it, then say it was ok not to take it.   Take care and hope you are doing well.

ah good ol' metoprolo....I stopped taking mind about 2 weeks ago and I ended up in the ER with heart palpitations. felt like my heart was pounding out of my chest. when I went to the ER they said that you SHOULD NOT STOP taking metoprolo all at once. it needs to be tapered off b/c it can make your heart flutter like that...just FYI!
