A couple of Megadeth songs that make me think about our situation with terrorism these days.

Peace Sells....but Who's Buying

What do you mean, I don’t believe in god?
I talk to him every day.
What do you mean, I don’t support your system?
I go to court when I have to.
What do you mean, I can’t get to work on time?
I got nothing better to do
And, what do you mean, I don’t pay my bills?
Why do you think I’m broke? huh?

Chorus
If there’s a new way,
I’ll be the first in line.
But, it better work this time.

What do you mean, I hurt your feelings?
I didn’t know you had any feelings.
What do you mean, I ain’t kind?
I’m just not your kind.
What do you mean, I couldn’t be president, of the united states of america?
Tell me something, it’s still we the people, right?

Chorus (repeat)

If there’s a new way I’ll be the first in line, but, it better work this time. can you put a price on peace?
Peace,
Peace sells...,
Peace,
Peace sells...,
Peace sells...,but who’s buying?
Peace sells...,but who’s buying?
Peace sells...,but who’s buying?
Peace sells...,but who’s buying?
No, peace sells...

Holly Wars

Brother will kill brother
Spilling blood across the land
Killing for religion
Something I don't understand

Fools like me, who cross the sea
And come to foreign lands
Ask the sheep, for their beliefs
Do you kill on God's command?

A country that's divided
Surely will not stand
My past erased, no more disgrace
No foolish naive stand

The end is near, it's crystal clear
Part of the master plan
Don't look now to Israel
It might be your homelands

Holy wars

Upon my podium, as the
Know it all scholar
Down in my seat of judgement
Gavel's bang, uphold the law
Up on my soapbox, a leader
Out to change the world
Down in my pulpit as the holier
Than-thou-could-be-messenger of God

Wage the war on organized crime
Sneak attacks, repel down the rocks
Behind the lines
Some people risk to employ me
Some people live to destroy me
Either way they die

They killed my wife, and my baby
With hopes to enslave me
First mistake... last mistake!
Paid by the alliance, to slay all the giants
Next mistake... no more mistakes!

Fill the cracks in, with judicial granite
Because I don't say it, don't mean I ain't
Thinkin' it
Next thing you know, they'll take my thoughts away
I know what I said, now I must scream of the overdose
And the lack of mercy killings

Well, I thought that this is the 3rd time I've seen Slayer, and they've never let me down once. I thought that I'm amazed they still give it so much at their age - I'm a lot younger than they are and can't throw myself into it the way they do! I stayed well out of the mosh (with my osteoporosis and small stature, I just don't want to be involved in that these days) but it was still unbearably hot in the crowd and I felt a little sick, and faint, but nothing was going to stop me from staying for the whole show.

I was particularly pleased that there was still a lot of 1983-84 material in their set, including Die by the Sword, Show No Mercy and Captor of Sin. There were about 4 songs from the new album, including Cult, Jihad and Insane Eyes (think there was one more too). But all up, it was about a 90 minute set so there was plenty of material from most albums. Angel of Death, Raining Blood and Dead Skin Mask still seem to be the crowd favourites.

I don't know a lot about Mastodon, who were up first - I only have one album (Leviathan) and I'm not a huge fan. But their set was also pretty good. I was surprised at the age of these guys - they're a band I've only heard of in fairly recent times and I guess I expected to see younger guys!

ATTENTION: Smashing Pumpkins fans.  I am so very excited I can hardly believe it's true.  The Pumpkins are playing a "residency" show at a club in Asheville, NC, about 4 hours from me.  That's 9 shows boys and girls....I can't believe it.  The club holds less than 1000 people and the Pumpkins are encouraging fans to BRING audio and video RECORDING devices.  Tickets go on sale this Sunday and are only $20ea.  I am almost positive that I am going to go to the first two shows and the last one.  Really I just want to move to Ashville for 10 days and go to every show.....oh what a wonderful thing that would be.....well worth putting up with all of the trials and tribulations I/we go through.  I realize that nobody can be as excited about this as I am but I had to share anyway.  Thanks  :yahoo; :bandance; :yahoo; :bandance;

One of my all time favorite Kansas songs:
" Miracles out of nowhere"

On a crystal morning I can see the dewdrops falling
Down from a gleaming heaven, I can hear the voices call
When you comin' home now, son, the World is not for you
Tell me what's you point of view

Hey there Mister Madman, wat'cha know that I don't know
Tell me some crazy stories, let me know who runs this show
Glassy-eyed and laughing, he turns and walks away
Tell me what made you that way

Here I am just waiting for a sign
Asking questions, learning all the time
It's always here, it's always there
It's just love, and miracles out of nowhere

Tell me now dear Mother, what's it like to be so old
Children grown and leavin', seems the world is growin' cold
And though your body's ailin' you, your mind is just like new
Tell me where you're goin' to

It's so simple right before your eyes
If you'll look through this disguise
It's always here, it's always there
It's just love and miracles out of nowhere

I sang this song a hundred, maybe a thousand years ago
No one ever listens, I just play and then I go
Off into the sunset like the western heroes do
Tell me what you're gonna do

Here I am, I'm sure to see a sign
All my life I knew that it was mine
It's always here, it's always there
It's just love and miracles out of nowhere
