Does anybody of a certain age remember a TV version of Cinderella with Lesley Ann Warren in the title role?

I loooooovvvvvvveeeeeeeeddddddd that show so much that I wroter LAW a letter telling her how much I loooooooovvvvvvvveeeeeeeddddddd her.

That actress has been in quite a few things over the years, and every time I saw her name somewhere, I'd think about Cinderella.  I must have been about 8 years old when it was on TV.

I don't know why, but I've been thinking about that show a lot lately, and DUH!, I shouted, let's see if it's available on DVD!  Just about everything is available on DVD!

So I went to amazon.com and lo and behold, I FOUND IT....for $120!!!  Seems like it is out of print so is quite rare.  Well, I wasn't going to pay that much money, but as time went on, I thought, "Ya know, I don't remember the last time I bought something for myself that really made me happy."  So I found a seller who was selling a copy that was in good condition for half the price.  It arrived today, and the next time I get some peace and need something to cheer me up, I'm going to dim the lights and watch my Cinderella.

I loved that version too. Years later a friend of ours (a younger man) stopped by with his girlfriend - it was Lesley! They dated for awhile, I never did see her again, but I loved her as Cinderella. It seems odd to have her as mother of Teri Hatcher's character in Desperate Housewives now!
I hope you enjoy the show!  :beer1;

OMG, you met CINDERELLA?????  REALLY?????

I've never seen Desperate Housewives.  Is she still on the show?  If so, I might have to watch.

Oh, I KNOW!  It IS expensive!  To get one brand new would have been $120, and I looked at various sites.  The cheapest one I could find was selling for $59, but it had a scratch on the disc, and I didn't want to take a chance with it.  I knew it would take a lot of buckage to get any copy at all, but the price I paid was sorta middle of the road.  I don't gamble, I don't drink, I don't smoke, I haven't bought new shoes in 5 years, both of our cars are previously owned by my parents, I don't spend much on food because CKD means you can't eat anything worth eating...  I'm far from self-indulgent, so I thought that for once in my life, I'd spend a little extra money on something that I just WANTED.

MM - We have the Ginger Rodgers/LAW Cinderella on VHS as my now 14 year old loves musical theatre and I have indulged that love over the past 9 years by buying her every musical we could find on ebay.  I must have purchased the VHS when she was in kindergarten (our local HS did a production of it that year and I played in the pit orchestra), before it was available on DVD.  We also have the Julie Andrews one in B & W from the TV special.   I hope you have had the chance to watch your new DVD!!!

I finally got the chance to watch my new DVD, and it was wonderful.  I remembered all of those songs and realized that I must have seen that show many times.  Remember how they used to show special programs once a year, like Wizard of Oz?  No one could record stuff right off the TV back then, so the networks would show them once a year.  The DVD has special features, one of them being interviews of the stars many years later.  LAW said in her interview that the network had shows Cinderella for 10 years, so I guess that's why I remembered all the songs!

Anyway, I'm happy!

 :bandance; I recall TV stations broadcasting the same movie for a week straight on "Million Dollar Movie" - my sisters and I watched Damn Yankees every day and can still sing all the songs - fun!

I agree.  With the crap we go through, we all need to pamper ourselves sometimes.  My big splurge is always New York, and if I can't afford it, Mom finds a way to make it happen

Exactly.  I figure I'm worth 75 bucks.  Not much more than that, but it's something.

Yup, I remember that particular version of Cinderella.  My favorite role of hers is in Victor/Victoria.  I agree with you.  Sometimes you just feel like paying the bucks and getting something that makes you very happy.  You go, girl!

I agree with peleroja. Lesley Ann Warren played such a wonderfully hilarious part
in Victor Victoria (1982) with Julie Andrews, James Garner & Robert Preston.
