Going through life tied to a chair!

« on: February 14, 2011, 11:16:28 AM »

I got my bill from Comcast which is usually $149 (cable, computer, phone) but this time it was $213.  So I called them and my promotion expired, and this girl could take me down to just basic cable but I would have to return a modem etc....  So we talk back and forth and then I say "well, let me check with Verizon because they have some deals out....."   Then she says "well let me transfer you to our advanced customer service to see what they can do"...  <grin>   We talk back and forth and I tell her I don't want ON Demand and all this stuff I just want channels 1-12 and 48.  She says I will get that but the other stuff is all FREE.  Well, no it isn't FREE......  I told her it would be like her going to McDonalds and all she wants is a cheeseburger which should be $1 but it is $5 because she gets all this free stuff like fries and a coke.  She didn't get it.

But she gave me my current services............  for $125 a month.

Really?  I use to pay $149 on a promotion.  The promotion expired and so it went to $213.  I threatened to quit and it goes to $125.

Now you can get (afford) your free fries and coke when you get your cheesburger. :-)

Crazy how much they charge for these services.  My Promo for cable is soon to be up im sure..

Rerun, we are the same in UK, you have to play them at their own game. I get furious when BT advertise, 3months here and 3 months there free to new customers. I have been a frigging good customer to them for years. We swap about with road recovery ever year, we have 3 main ones and we just go around in circles, its madness.

Teehee! It's brilliant isn't it?  Threaten to move elsewhere and suddenly they CAN do you a special deal.  I suppose that the amount of people who don't quibble about it balances it out so they don't actually lose any money.

This is the norm for us. Everytime the bill goes up and we complain, all we have to do is say well Dish or whatever Satellite service has a promotion or price plan cheaper than cComcast or Xfinity (whatever they are calling themselves these days) and they change our rate plan for another 6 onths or year.

I want a cable system where you can pick and choose what channels you want!
This was brought up and cable companies balked about it in a congressional meeting. I think at most I use about 16 channnels. I don't need shopping channels, foriegn language channels, kids crap, C-SPAN, 12 or so MTV brand channels, and so on. Let's cut out the crap we don't want.

I agree about keeping a customer. Sometimes you gotta keep pushing until you get what you want. My husband and I were buying a new guitar a few years back. The guitar say was 900 cut down from 1,200 dollars (or whatever the price was). Well that wasn't good enough because back" in the 60's" when he used to buy them it would've only cost him about 300 for that guitar. He stayed at the store trying to bargain for so long they gave him a better case, amp, straps, and a bunch of extra stuff plus dropped the price more just to get him out of there! LOL. These big companies have so much money it's no big deal for them to cut your cable bill even lower for you and us, it is a big deal. I'm GLAD you get to save a little extra money each month now. It's hard enough out there....

I noticed nobody mentioned all the rerun programs on cable t.v. I keep telling my Wife there is more we can do with our money then keep watching the same programs over and over. Thank God spring is nearly here, I can get outside and do other things beside looking at the darned television. Can anyone say CABIN FEVER?

This is what I want also, but they can tell there advertisers that they have so many subscribers to jack that price up too when in the real world who watches all that crap where they are arguing and fighting and calling each other names.  I see it when I'm flipping over to Fox News!

Then they also want to charge the cable networks more money to carry them and then charge us more money because they are carrying them  :stressed; :banghead;   This was also in the paper a few months ago that I read while waiting for physical therapy.
