I have only really posted when I was new here and it has been a while since I have been on, but just wanted to let everyone know that my boyfriend is finally getting his transplant tomorrow from his dad. Thanks in advanced for all of the well wishes and prayers. You all have taught me a lot!

carol1987 CONGRATS!!!! Prayers comming your way. Hope everything is going well. Our donor just got out of surgery and is headed to recovery about 5 hours later....the "slushie maching" that they put the kidney on between the donor and recipient wasn't working so there was a delay. They said about another 2 1/2 hours before recipient gets out of surgery. Try to keep you all updated.

This is all so exciting!  When I first joined IHD, it was very rare for someone to post that they had a transplant.  It seems like there have been an amazing amount of members transplanted in the past 6 months.  Every time is a miracle and it is always exciting.   Prayers for everyone. Keep us updated.    :2thumbsup;    :yahoo;

Everything has gone great! He was doing labs about 3 times a week because of a high potassium but it has now stayed at 5.2 so they are not repeating labs for a week! His mom came and stayed with us for about a week which was a huge help! I stayed at the hospital with him, one night in the ICU due to high potassium and a low oxygen saturation when he came out of surgery. Due to the low oxygen they had a hard time keeping the pain under control the first 24 hours, but did great once they got him on some different pain meds. Then he spent 3 more nights on a kidney transplant unit and asked me to stay, so having his mom staying at our house helped a ton! She was able to Clorox everything before we came home. He has done great since we got home! He has wonderful color, his hemoglobin is back up and he has tons of energy. He was also having a hard time sleeping before the transplant, was on Ambien CR and still only sleeping a couple hours a night, but hasn't had to take anything for sleep since he got home!!!! YAY!

A couple of things that the surgeon does differently than what we have heard most do.......he and his donor were a 5/6 match and so they did not do the "induction" or the IV immunosuppressant, and they also did not put the stent in the ureter. He has done great with both of these changes. He was really excited not to have the stent when he got out of surgery!

His creatinine has jumped around a bit but this morning it was down to 1.3 which is the lowest its been!

Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers!

Super news.   :2thumbsup; Will pray for you both - saw a transplant on the telly the other week and transplanted kidney was producing urine within five minutes of being hooked up. Donor was up and about the very next day and recipient was walking along the beach 2 weeks later   -  well wishes coming your way!
