We have dialysis/transplant/pre-dialysis patients from around the world so I thought I put up this question up,
What Makes Your Area/City Special.

Del Rio has world class fishing at Lake Amistad. Lake Amistad has held the ESPN Bassmasters Elite Series Fishing Tournament "Battle on the Border" for 2 years('08 and '09). We also have one of the largest collection of prehistoric cave drawings. Finally we have one of the major bull riding contests, which is the George Paul Rodeo where some of the top bull riders come to ride. This rodeo is televised on the CMT country music channel.

It can be a sleepy town here but sometimes it can wake up from its slumber several times a year.

We have "Cressie" !!  She's our lake monster that lives in Crescent Lake!!  Many people have claimed to see here.  We haven't as of yet!!

We have the Rose Bowl (football stadium) and the Rose Parade - both take place on New Years Day.

New Jersey has no football team yet we have two teams that play football in NJ.
The Jets and the Giants.

New Jersey isnt very big but within an hour you can drive to NYC/Philly/ or Atlantic City.

Probably our views. You'll be driving along, crest a hill and then there will be Mount Rainier filling your windscreen or the Olympics with a fresh coat of snow viewed across the water with the sun setting.

I've been to Everett on the north and Springdale on the south when my nephew was stationed on the Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier. You are right that it has some beautiful views that I've seen.

Yorba Linda is "The Land of Gracious Living." 
That is on all the signs as you enter.  What it is known for is the Richard Nixon Birthplace and Library. What I like about is a day like today.  I am in my short sleeve shirt looking at beautiful snow covered mountains.  You can go surfing in the morning and ski in the afternoon.  The beaches and the mountains are only 45 minutes away.

ArtPrize!   It's in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

It's an international art competition, open to anyone, voted on by the public who attends.  Prize winner gets $250,000.  Top 10 are awarded decent prizes as well.  The whole town goes art mad for a couple weeks, and many of the installation pieces have become permanent, which makes our town even more amazing year round.  This was the second competition, and over 1700 artists joined the competition, and over 40,000 locals registered to vote.  The number who enjoyed the show without voting is at least triple that. 

My favorite piece from this year was an installation of working pianos at random street corners for anyone who wanted to sit down and play.  My favorite image of it was a group of friends clustered around a piano, holding up a tarp over the musician playing it in the rain, while couples danced through the raindrops around the piano. 

Sometimes, in spite of all the pain humans are capable of creating, we can make a little magic, too.

It's still suffering from a few growing pains, but it looks to keep getting bigger and better every year.

My area of Sydney is an early suburb called Annandale and apart from having no lamp posts (all electrical wiring is underground) my little shopping centre is covered by a grapevine under which we sit to drink coffee and gossip.
The grocer is Lebanese, the fast food Portuguese, the baker is Vietnamese, the newsagent is Chinese and so is the coffee shop and we all get along well. I'm so proud of being Australian.

We used to have the best fish and chip shop in the UK (official) but it's not 2007 any more.  Boudica was supposed to have died here (but she allegedly died in about a hundred different places in the UK so that's no biggie.) We're in a song.  Oh, and we have the most amazing lights in the high street at Christmas; they put all other local towns to shame.

Charlottetown is the birthplace of Canada.  In 1864, when New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island were having a small conference to talk about the 3 colonies coming together as one, a group from Ontario and Quebec decided to crash the party.  In the end, the Dominion of Canada consisted of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Quebec.  PEI opted out until 1873, when they needed money to pay for their railway

It's also a very pretty city, with a lot of older buildings, and you're never far from the water.  Heck, we're an island, after all.. *G*

I live right on the border between two nice towns that straddle the Fox River.  Indeed, the river is within walking distance of my house.  A lot of people from Chicago come here on weekends to get away from the big city, but not TOO far away.  We have lots of interesting shops and architecture, some lovely old homes.  Ellen DeGeneres shot a Christmas segment here a couple of years ago.  It's nice but a little twee for my tastes.  There's not much racial diversity here at all, which can be a little dull, although we do seem to have a growing Indian/Pakistani population here, which is odd but sorta cool.  They play cricket not far from here in the summer...I like watching cricket, actually.

I don't think any town comes together as much as Pittsburgh, when the STEELERS have a chance to get another Super bowl ring. Also, if you all watch the game, you can see for yourself what a beautiful town Pittsburgh is

In my town, constant road construction on all roads to get out of and around town. Which means a constant everchanging view of scenery when traveling about as if your on an amusement park ride as you go about.

In my town ....people come to visit to see the storms.....   The Ocean get volient  ..   winds are  ...well...
stimulating..... and the clam chowder becomes a staple....  The Oregon coast is a place of change.....
