Anyone see the news at lunchtime?  'We shall be interviewing Europe's youngest ever patient to do home dialysis' ..Huh i thought , its not a new thing. Turns out he was 17 but ..uses a portable HD machine , no bigger than a typewriter ...Is this The NX stage machine ? Have we got it at last ?

A new British IHD member mentioned he'd be going onto NxStage around Christmastime...let's look in the intro section to see who that was...

Well, duh...http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?topic=20895.0

post from "nxstage in liverpool"...I guess that was a clue! :rofl;

I don't have the NxStage machine at home anymore, but it is about the size of a 17" television set (about the best I can give you as an estimate), it is portable, but the machine is a lot heavier than it looks, about 75 pounds, so travel involves some strength. But it sure beats the tar of of doing in-center treatments......

You'd be amazed at what you can learn to do if it means getting control back!

I know it's hemo, but I doubt he's the youngest on "home dialysis"  I mean, I was 12.  I was on PD, but it was still home dialysis.  I was the first child in my province to go home on dialysis.  Before me, the kid had to stay in the hospital, or their family moved out of province.
