My name is Tammy I have been on dialysis for 11 years! I just had an anniversary date Oct 31, 1999, I found out I had
to go on dialysis on my husbands birthday and was going to start 4 days later halloween cant decide if it was trick or treat. My ESRD is hereditary my grandfather passed away in the fifties there was no treatment then for him, my dad was only 10 years old at the time. then around the time i was 16 my dad started to get ready for dialysis by the time i was 19 he was on dialysis for a couple of years then got a transplant the first one failed 17 months later he got another transplant
and he had no relatives who could give him one~! the second one took and lasted 9 years he ended us dying at the age of 56. I went on dialysis when i was 36 i am 47 now, i have 2 girls ages 20 and 19 and i have a son who is 16 they are great they have gone through alot with me being in and out of the hospital and not being home with them. But I have kept myself pretty healthy for the last 2 years i have a new grandchild to llive for and of course my husband has been on my journey with me every step of the way i could never repay him for all the stuff he has had to do for all of us. Hes awesome! i have been at the same center all these years i have even sit in the same chair in the same spot also they know i get very upset when they move me, so they dont!

Hi RedApple. Sounds like you have a great family. A good support system. Are you going to go for a transplant someday?
I'm so glad you joined our site.

Hi, RedApple1269 and
Your family history sounds a lot like mine!
