Hello,
My name is Denise and I have had kidney disease since 1992. I have Lupus and high blood pressure. Not sure which one shut down my kidneys. I have been on hemo dialysis for 2 yrs. Getting ready to switch to pd dialysis. Have been reading the posts and it seems like most people like pd over hemo. i hope I will. Gonna do the cyler machine at night. I will post after the surgery, not sure when it will be. Hopefully some time in nov. have a appt with surgeon on the 8th of nov.  :flower;

Welcome from another new member. I've been on the cycler for 5 months and got my blood/waste results yesterday. They were all wonderful (except for parathyroid) so my nephrologist is pushing forward with transplant list for me. YEA Here's how I look at peritoneal dialysis (never been on hemo): I don't love it because that would be stupid, I don't hate it because then I wouldn't do it, It is just something that I have to do to stay alive, like eating and breathing. Know that you will slowly feel better (give it a little time). LOVE, VERA

Hi Vera,
I was wondering if you could set up the machine in advance, before you are ready to connect. Just thought it would be easier to set up before bed. That way at bedtime you would just have to connect yourself, not setup.

Hi Denise, and welcome to IHD.  There are plenty of people here on PD.  There is a separate forum for Home Dialysis, and you may find threads there that will answer your questions.  We all look forward to hearing how you adapt to PD, so keep posting!
