Hey ya'll!!!
My name is Nat Larson, I'm a dialysis patient from Winslow, AZ. I've been on dialysis now for a year and ten months. I had a kidney transplant in 2003, it rejected in 2008. FSGS, was the original condition that brought about my kidney failure. I'm a singer/songwriter, I record and produce my own music. I love tattoes and piercings. (eventhough I can't get either anymore) I'm the only one in my age group on dialysis in Winslow, so it's really awsome for me to be here. Noone here really knows how this is for me.. Simply because there is noone here goin through exactly the same thing in the same point in thier life....thank you for readin'

Welcome Nat!   :waving;     This is a great site and we are so glad you found us!  I can't wait to hear more about you.  I transplanted in 2008 and will be celebrating 2 years Nov. 5th.  I'm interested to know how or why your transplant failed?  If there even was a reason.

1993 diagnosed with glomerulonephritis.
Oct 41, 2007 - Got fistula placed.
Feb 13, 2008 - Activated on "the list".
Nov 5, 2008 - Received living donor transplant from my sister-in-law, Etta.
Nov 5, 2011 - THREE YEARS POST TRANSPLANT!  :D

Started HD 10/6/10
Transplanted 1/6/11 (Chain Transplant My altruistic donor was  "Becky from Chicago" , and DH Mike donated on my behalf and the chain continued...)

Hi Nat and welcome to IHD.  AZ is warm....  too warm sometimes but I'd love to live there.  Be sure to come here and read and learn.  We are all different and at different stages but it is amazing what I've learned here.

Uninterrupted in-center (self-care) hemodialysis since 1982 -- 34 YEARS on March 3, 2016 !!

No transplant.  Not yet, anyway.  Only decided to be listed on 11/9/06. Inactive at the moment.  ;)
I make films.

Just the facts: 70.0 kgs. (about 154 lbs.)
Treatment: Tue-Thur-Sat   5.5 hours, 2x/wk, 6 hours, 1x/wk
Dialysate flow (Qd)=600;  Blood pump speed(Qb)=315
Fresenius Optiflux-180 filter--without reuse
Fresenius 2008T dialysis machine
My KDOQI Nutrition (+/ -):  2,450 Calories, 84 grams Protein/day.

My Blokey (husband) is one of the youngest at his centre too (he's 34).  He's been on dialysis since June 2009.  If I ever get to cross the pond (I'm in England), Arizona is one state I definitely want to visit, despite the fact that I hate heat (and I hear it's hot?)!

Pyelonephritis (began at 8 mos old)
Home haemo 1980-1985 (self-cannulated with 15 gauge sharps)
Cadaveric transplant 1985
New upper-arm fistula April 2008
Uldall-Cook catheter inserted May 2008
Haemo-dialysis, self care unit June 2008
(2 1/2 hours X 5 weekly)
Self-cannulated, 15 gauge blunts, buttonholes.
Living donor transplant (sister-in law Kathy) Feb. 2009
First failed kidney transplant removed Apr.  2009
Second trx doing great so far...all lab values in normal ranges

1986: kidney failure at 19 years old, cause unknown
PD for a year, in-centre haemo for 4 years
Transplant 1 lasted 21 years (Lucy: 1991 - 2012), failed due to Transplant glomerulopathy
5 weeks Haemo 2012
Transplant 2 (Maggie) installed Feb 13, 2013, returned to work June 17, 2013 average crea was 130, now is 140.
Infections in June / July, hospital 1-4 Aug for infections.

Over the years:  skin cancer; thyroidectomy, pneumonia; CMV; BK; 14 surgeries
Generally glossy and happy.

As I was coming out the Nephrologist office, I thought the sky was falling.
Knew I was going on dialysis since November 1999.
Had a fistula put in January 2000.
Been on 4-1/2 hour dialysis since August 28, 2001. (They took out 35Kg that single week)

August 1980: Diagnosed with Familial Juvenile Hyperurecemic Nephropathy (FJHN)
8.22.10:   Began dialysis through central venous catheter
8.25.10:   AV fistula created
9.28.10:   Began training for Home Nocturnal Hemodialysis on a Fresenius Baby K
10.21.10: Began creating buttonholes with 15ga needles
11.13.10: Our first nocturnal home treatment!

Welcome Nat   :2thumbsup;   Glad you found us and we look forward to reading more of your posts.  Several of us have FSGS  -- mine is idiopathic, no reason.  Did the FSGS reoccur and effect the transplanted kidney?  I am 6 weeks post transplant and the FSGS reoccurring is a concern for me.   

This is a great group. Members really care about each other. You will find great support.  I will probably be asking you more questions about your first transplant----if you don't mind!  Welcome to IHD.   :2thumbsup;
