Christmas gifts

Guess what I got for a Christmas gift??   I got a new digital camera.  One of my friends at work gave me a brand new Fuji finepixA330  digital camera as a Christmas present.  My digital camera had taken a dump at the Wild Animal Park and started eating batteries at the rate of gulp and gone!  I unpackaged it this morning and have run wild taking pictures of the animals and the new bathroom. You will see the posts of the new bathroom elsewhere in the message board. 


I also received a gift from a student from last year.  His Mom thought about my aide and I.  Also one of my students brought me a small box of See's candies as a gift.  It was the only gift from my students this year.  It made me happy one of them thought about me.  I do not expect gifts from any student anymore because we are at the middle school level.  Six teachers would be hard to buy for each year.  I have averaged one gift a year for the last three years from students.  And they always expect a gift or something from me!  (Egocentric kids! Gotta love them!)

The Christmas loot from other teachers was great:
 a basket of goodies (chocolate and tea) from the counselor
 a can of candy from spec ed teachers
 popcorn from staff club
 a Christmas present from my aide (I have not opened it, she said to wait till Christmas. Another package to fondle.)

I gave the kids Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer pipe cleaner heads on ribbons to wear and a treat bag with an ornament in it and sweets.

I also took treat bags to dialysis yesterday and the tech I had passed them out to everyone.  They had ornaments and sweets in them too.

I got a few things from coworkers last week; a cute set of shoe and handbag ornaments, a boa tree, a santa dog, and an ornament that says, "diva"
The personnel rules say that supervisors aren't supposed to get gifts.  hehehe

Because there are so many people in my company - 350 odd - we do a Kris Kringle and everyone is given someone to buy for.  It is really fun and a great reason to have a party to exchange gifts.

I feel like I had my Christmas already--my students (well, their parents) are so wonderful to all the teachers. I am always amazed. Mall gift and restaurant gift cards, treats, soaps, holiday gift items, candles - overwhelming.  I love my job, all the teachers, my director and especially my students. I will teach there until they have to carry me out!  We also adopted a new preschool that is opening in a rescue mission for homeless and abused women and children. Our parents have donated art supplies, playground toys, art tables, everything the children will need including cleaning supplies. My heart was so full seeing how much they gave  - two truck loads!  I love Christmas. It truly brings out the best in people.  It makes me try to be a better person.  (try is the operative word!)
