I managed to forget going on the yearly trip with my local kidneyfund this morning. I was really looking forward to going.   :(
In my phone it said next week.
So just doing some housework and enjoying the sun, after I have finished my coffees that is

This weekend, I am going through all of my stuff and getting rid of anything I don't need, use or can't or shouldn't wear anymore.

I gotta say, it's rather freeing.

I'm sure I'm not going to get it all done in one weekend, but it sure is quite a start!

I finally found a Slushy Magic!  Well, Mom found it.  I've no idea if it works or not.  Will be so cool if it does

I'll let you know if it works.  I need to let the freezer cubes freeze, and I think I'll wait till after dialysis tomorrow, so I don't have to worry about fluid gains

I took my car to the garage for a service and walked the 25 minutes home. Hit the wall at the ten minute mark but kepy going and got my second wind. What an adventure. Must try it again next year!

It's hard to keep going once you hit that wall, but I'm stubborn.  If I set out to do something, I'm going to do it.  There are a few times that I've had to feel my way home with my cane because when I overexert myself, my double vision starts acting up and I get disoriented.  I'll keep walking, though, because the more you do it, the easier it gets.  I have friends that have been doing 5k walks.  I'll do it with them next year

Ha ha, thank you for brightening up my day.  That made me laugh muchly!

In no particular order, I've danced like no-one was watching (and I don't think they were, unless I have a peeping Tom), been to the library, browsed the charity shops, sent some postcards to foreign shores, weeded and trimmed my front garden and mowed the lawn (feel free to take that in two different ways), read Warm Bodies for an hour in the garden, showered, painted my toe nails, went to tidy the drive (it's at the back of our house and I only see it about twice a year, when I want to get in the garage for some odd rubbishy thing which might be stored in there) and discovered that some kind neighbour had pulled all the weeds up for me, most probably because they were sick of having to see them *grin*, did one load of washing, hung it on the line and have since been able to put it away ... I love this glorious weather (sometimes).

Tomorrow I'm dragging Blokey into town to buy shoes for his brother's wedding.  I bought the dress last week so just need the accessories.  I love shoe shopping ... he hates it, bless him.  So we'll be going to Pizza Hut for lunch. Yummy.

Once again, I am confused. Are the shoes for you, Blokely or BB (Blokey's brother)? Oh, and I've taken the trimming and mowing in only one way - the way it was intended! You minx!!

Minx?  Me?  I have no idea what you mean, galvo ... *looks innocent* ...

The shoes are for me.  And they're GORGEOUS.  I'm not sure they match the dress very well but I don't care.  Nobody is going to be looking at my shoes anyway when there's a blushing bride to hog all the attention.

 ;D

I cleared out all my kitchen cupboards today and now have a dining room table full of stuff I don't need.  It will have to stay there till we drag it to the charity shop next weekend.  *sigh* (I hate mess.)

I sent out invitations to an open house for my pro bono clinic students for Saturday, June 22.  My sister bravely volunteered her cottage on the lake, as well as the pontoon, the paddle boat, the canoe, the two fishing boats, the three kayaks, and the bonfire pit for the day.  I sent some seriously casual emails and facebook messages to about 2 dozen people, figuring if I got 9 or 10 who could come, it would be a fun day.  The invite was basically "Cottage open house, daylight until too dark to drink around the bonfire, boat tours and fishing on the 80 acre chain of lakes and wetlands, kid friendly, guests welcome, bring a dish to pass, BYOB."  I figured I'd throw some brats and hot dogs on the grill for the few who could come, grab a couple bags of chips, put out a heaping bowl of fresh strawberries, bring the stuff to make s'mores, and call it good.

I've heard back from only about half of the people I've invited so far.  Only one said no.  Current head count for the party, including kids and guests, is 26.   Oh my.  ;D

Can I come? :pray;

I survived Dyl's birthday and now have a friendly warning, jbeany. Combine alcohol and a sunny, picturesque environment and your guests will not leave without a court order (and given that they know the legal system so well, probably not even then!) We did not offer gift bags for the kids because I so detest those things filled with plastic crap, so we had to resort to handing each child a balloon and saying within earshot of the parents (happily enjoying a warm afternoon, sipping the lager and cider on offer) 'Here ya go, sweetheart! This is for you TO TAKE HOME.'

Our Scottish friends are holding a party in two weeks for their daughter and are joking that we've set the standard, but that Scotland shall prevail over the Welsh. It is on!

Sure, fly on over!  Between the pontoon, the paddleboat, the canoe, the two 14 ft fishing boats, the 3 kayaks, and the new sailboat - I bet we can squeeze you and boys out on the water with everyone else!

There is, of course, a reason none of the invites were for overnight!  We are on wetlands, after a major flood season, and the spray and thermocells only work just so well  Eventually, the mosquitoes will pick up any stray guests left around the campfire and carry them off.   ;D

It's not really *that* hard to wrap things up -- just run out of lager & cider!

(Though I think jbeany's mosquito solution is pure genius.)

I baked bread for the first time ever.  Kneading is surprisingly therapeutic.

Oh yes, very kneady.

(Well played, galvo.  :P)

Today I have spent most of the day in bed.  I am full of snot, my glands (at least, I assume it's my glands) are really painful, my head is fuzzy and I woke up drenched in sweat following a brief nap this afternoon.  Blokey is hoping I don't pass it on to him; so am I, because he's a far worse invalid than me, what with being a male of the species.  At the moment I can't even smell my Vicks which is very annoying because I really love that smell ...

Yesterday - caught up on sleep, mowed lawn, trimmed edges, pulled weeds, planted a decorative grass that wasn't doing well inside anymore.  Then ran errands and got some shopping done.

Today - got up early, cleaned house, did laundry, made caramels to take to my craft class tomorrow, called on craft show table in November, and answered a bunch of emails.  Still need to organize my craft supplies for the class, wrap the caramels, and make a batch of brownies to freeze for the party next weekend.

I finally got all the application forms for the guide dog training school in Long Island.  I only sent for the forms in April. *L*  I got tired reading through them.  There's a form for me to fill out, one for my doctor, one for my ophthalmologist, and one for my O&M instructor, plus I need three reference letters and a video showing how well I can get around on my own, including crossing streets and getting on the bus.  Kelly seemed excited when I told her.  If I'm approved, I'll be within visiting distance for her for a month.

I accomplished getting stuck in an elevator at work today. It just stopped working, wouldn't even move up or down. I'm slightly claustrophobic so I FLIPPED OUT. Almost had a panic attack, started stripping off my jacket, sat on the floor and screamed for help. Someone finally heard me and got maintnance to help get me out.  :bow; They had to pry open the doors and pull me out onto a ladder from the floor below.

I will be taking the stairs from now on.
