Oh, cariad ... that sounds like an amazing evening, particularly the Mexican nom-nom. I am very partial to a bit of Mexican.

I was pleasantly surprised at how edible it all was.
And Sugar, naughty girl.... :2thumbsup; :rofl;

Both boys passed their skating! Comment from the instructor on my younger son was that he is very good at it WHEN HE TRIES. Gwyn did point out that the kid does have an 8-9 hour school day, plus karate takes place on Thursdays, so everything is rush-rush and it's exhausting. Soccer starts up in a a few weeks, so we are taking a break from skating until the blistering heat of summer when all the other sports go on hiatus. Made pesto with the cilantro tonight and it was lovely. Cleaned, and that's about it.

Gave up and went to bed at 6 pm last night.  Slept until 5 this morning.  So I guess I'm caught up on sleep!  So far, I've read 3 chapters ahead for my class today and baked several dozen filled biscuits to tuck in the freezer for a quick meals for the next two weeks, so I don't have to mess with cooking during the final push to exams.

I had a busy morning and afternoon. But then.....

We sat on the swing on the porch and just talked and relaxed and watched the bamboo swaying in the wind....

I almost felt as though I had already retired and was just basking in the beauty of life. Then I went around to the front of the house and picked some lily-of-the valley. Sweet.

Ah, that sounds gorgeous. The complete opposite of my morning, too.

This morning we went to the basketball party at my son's school, for all the kids who played on the basketball teams. There were snacks and drinks and there was an adult vs. kids game at the end. I even got thrown onto the court for a few minutes, and since I was wearing bright orange, everyone passed to me because they could make me out in the fray. I utterly suck at basketball, and some of those kids are amazing players. My younger son pouted some of the time because i would not give him my iPhone, but we took him outside to play on the playground and he cheered up. One of the coaches recruited Aidan for his afterschool running club. Then we went home and made a huge brunch with tatws (potatoes), eggs, broccoli, and two kinds of cheese.

We received a sourdough starter from one of the teachers at Aidan's school as a Valentine gift and today I made a little loaf of bread with it, and we are going to make crepes with it tomorrow. I cleaned some of the kitchen (still needs a load more work) and now I plan to Freecycle a number of items that we do not need: backpacks and lunch bags that need a bit of repair but can still be used (we have 7 backpacks and matching lunch bags for 2 kids!), coffee maker that works fine but Gwyn no longer needs a spare for work since starting the new job, diapers (those days are over THANK GOD!),  and other miscellany.

Got a call from a friend who invited both kids over tomorrow morning. Gwyn and I are going to use the time to attend a yoga class - not Bikram. I learned that lesson for life!

Some lessons don't need repeating!

My sole accomplishment for today was not buying some artwork I found online while surfing that I really loved.  I'm waiting a month - if I'm still in love, I'll get it then.

Absolutely, nothing.
Walked home from dialysis for the very first time due to really nice weather and I almost got big by a dog walking home. Needless to say, this scared the beejeepers out of me and I felt drained for the rest of the day. :( :(

I bit my tongue whilst Blokey threw a massive strop this afternoon; I just let the conversation I wanted to have with him play out in my head instead, and obviously I made my point and Blokey saw sense.  This was a far better conclusion to the scenario than if it had played out in reality, which would have ended in tears (mine).  I left him stewing in his own misery on the settee.

I have accomplished so much in the last few days that I scare myself thinking about it. It's spring here and that means calving and garden season.  The garden is plowed, tilled and fenced with a brand new gate that swings rather than drags.   :bandance;  The cold crops are in the ground.  We have 10 baby calves so far with more to come.  My flower beds are mulched and the woods behind the house have been burnt off (killed a BUNCH of ticks! )  My back and shoulders are sore and in need of a good massage (oh where is that cabana boy when I need him?)  :rofl;   I love spring!

Eugh!  The idea of ticks always makes me feel really queasy.

I hoovered, dusted, made the bed and put some washing on.  Now I'm being lazy.

I shall steer clear of the country and country-like places, or indeed, anywhere with grass and trees.  This means I will not be able to leave my house, but I think that's a small price to pay if it means I won't have my blood guzzled by a nasty disease-ridden tick.

Drove the 2 hours to the surgeon's office an hour early.  Actually got in early and was out 10 minutes after my appointment was supposed to start.  Drove like a NYC taxi driver the 2-1/2 hours back and scooted into my exam review class only 10 minutes late.  Got the take-home exam and dutifully trudged down to the library immediately and began.  Finished it in a speedy 5 hours (fast for this teacher's usual assignments!) and now am ready to get the next one during tomorrow's class.  Whew!

Oh, and got surgery scheduled.  FINALLY!

After my morning of shopping, labs, and talking in excruciating detail to Northwestern about my case of shingles (they call every day now - wonder if this will go into the final write-up of the trial)  I started the trudgery of sorting through our stacks and stacks of papers. Picked up the meat CSA with two dozen eggs (yes!) and collected the boys from school. My younger son told me he was "a bit homesick today" :( and my older one never wants to leave that place. Two teachers kept raving about my hair - which is a riot of thick curls. I hate it; to me it looks like a hair helmet, but I appreciated the compliments. More paper sorting tonight.

I powered-walked up the hill to the tx clinic, feeling much better than yesterday. The biopsy has made me a tad sore. The walk home was much steadier and slower, and I had the day in bed. So I accomplished some healing rest.  :)

Stick with me Pops I've got a tick removing comb (for the dog) but will work on you too. First douse tick in Vodka. Then insert comb
and twist round. Hep presto tick removed!!!

Had to look for a new bread-machine today because the old one is many years old
and it looks as if it stops working any moment now.
Passed by Abbey Road and saw tourists stopping in the middle of the road
taking their photos whilst standing on “that” Zebra-crossing,
causing traffic-delays...
