Cariad - aren't kids amazing~!  No fear of technology there.  My 13 year old son has been our very own Geek Squad for years now.  He teaches me so much!

So, we've had a good day.  The best part was an hour and a half swimming with my favorite person - my son.  Nice day!

Did lots of lawn edging in my daughter's yard. As she has had me here for almost 6 weeks, and another 2 after this, I feel good to be able to do some jobs around the house for her.

In spite of the auto mechanic's certainty that anyone wearing heels and make-up couldn't possibly have a clue about car repair, I installed my new windshield wiper spring arms on my elderly car without any help.  Yeesh, it was only a single bolt to loosen.  It took me longer to get the new wiper blades out of the vacu-sealed, safer-than-a-bank-vault plastic packaging than it did to install the new arms!

I tidied my garage and discovered a long lost (and much loved) necklace hidden away in a carrier bag.  I lost it in the autumn of 2006; I only know this because the bag was full of a plethora of receipts, leaflets and postcards from our honeymoon.

I was teaching a fourth grade student about finding the areas of triangles and he eyes lit up with comprehension!

Took a shower.  Took my son to school.  Took the dog to the vet for her oral surgery.  Cleaned up the kitchen.  Got a few groceries.  Made lunch. Fielded a few phone calls.  Now going to pick up son and dog and make dinner.....  Yep, that's my day!

Got after six hours of sleep and slogged off to work.

Did morning duty. Said good morning to every student who walked into the gate.  Got yelled at by another teacher who came late to.  she thought I should be directing traffic, not watching the kids.  I think she should get to work on time!  Managed to keep my big mouth shut, though.

Taught Volume of triangular prisms today.
Reviewed testing skills for CSTs.
Played silent ball with sixth period, then had then write rules for a game.
Had an IEP with parent and admin at the end of the day.
Came home to the computer.
Watched comedy dvds.
Watched RAW.
Went to dinner with hubby.
Went Walmart for paper for school.

Now off to beddy bye.

I had a really good whinge to my Mumsy on the phone.  She put everything into perspective.  Since coming off the phone everything has gone skewy again and perspective has been lost. 

I am getting good at whinging.

We had an interesting day....after most of the kids went home, one of the teachers from the early childhood class came back with her family and I performed her wedding. Right there in the classroom. That is a first!

Why yes, I did accomplish something today, thanks for asking:

Returned hideous "mint green" jeans to GapKids. They looked better online - in person they looked like some godforsaken throwback to the days of acid wash. Also returned chambray trousers that were supposed to be a size 10 (boys) but could have easily fit me. I know I am on the shorter side, but there are no 10-year-olds towering over me in this city.

Then, because I was already on that side of town, I went to Trader Joes for the first time in about a year. Purchased many supplies at great prices including tuna in olive oil (very difficult to find) apple juice in convenient half gallon sizes for less than half the price of the enormous glass gallon bottle we buy at Whole Foods, black mango tea to ice, and a few easter candies for the boys. I also brought a large paper bag of compostable materials in my car, and drove it over to Growing Power to drop in their community compost bin. (Our worms just cannot keep up - we are probably going to donate them.) Unloaded shopping at home and then off to the library to ask a few questions and finally get a new library card, plus book. Our library is gorgeous!! One of those old buildings that are all stained glass and marble.

About to pop over to Aidan's school - we have a monthly family theme night there that we try to go to each time (as who knows if these programs will survive the cuts). Tonight the theme is math and technology, so we'll learn about good kids' sites to visit on the internet, then they offer a free dinner to all attendees. I don't go in for school food, but the kids will eat it, and it's nice for a change of scene for them.

I took the day (well, technically morning, because I only work till lunchtime on Thursday's) off work as I am poorly.  This is an accomplishment because usually I'm the idiot who goes in even when feeling like soiled under-garments and gets no thanks for it.  I refuse to feel guilty for being ill.

All the machines in my house keep breaking down !!!! am i generating magnetic energy or something ? I don't actually know what this is but sounds technical like I might! First my laptop un-wirelessed itself (tricky now static on my bed only) my blood pressure machine has had enough of my high blood pressure and curled up and died and now my milk frother for cappuccino won't froth ....Help!
it's a sad fact of life that these 3 things might be the most important to me right now!

We had a lovely time at the Math and Tech night yesterday. On the way in, there was someone from community services giving the kids hacky sacks (those little leather balls) chapstick and hand sanitizer.The boys watched a number of books on film in the art room, then we went down to the library where they could play games. I was delighted to see how eager Liot was to learn Spanish, as he will attend that school next year.

We were going to leave then but Aidan said he was starving and they were just setting up the food. It was Mexican, and the best school food I've eaten there. There were trays filled with ground beef or chicken and vegetables, plus a vegetarian rice with vegetables, soft taco shells, and a large bowl of pears. Inside the gymnasium, there was an entire table devoted to condiments: chopped tomato, onions, shredded lettuce, loads of cheese, salsa, sour cream, jalapenos and cilantro. They had way too much food for the small number or participants, so most people, including us, went home with containers of leftovers. I have a load of chopped cilantro down in the fridge, just waiting for me to whip up a pesto for Gwyn and me to have this evening. We also grabbed cheese, both meats, rice and close to two dozen soft taco shells. I already had some more of the rice for lunch. Then our number came up in the raffle (everyone's number came up eventually) and we got a CD for learning Spanish to use at home.  Aidan got his hacky sack stuck in the basketball hoop mechanism, and Gwyn had to push a table over so he could reach it and fish it out. Bad example to set! Kids were seen pushing the tables and climbing on them the rest of the night. Liot threw quite the wobbly when it was time to leave - he did not want to go as all the kids were running around in the gym playing. All in all, a wonderful evening, and entirely free which will likely be a thing of the past soon.

Have not anything useful today. Gwyn brought the boys to school as I am in pain. Final skating lesson tonight - I hope my younger son passes. This is his second attempt and I won't sign him up for a third if he does not pass. Nervous!

An hour of sleep last night, and I had something to at least turn in.  Two weeks left to see if this class kills me.
