I know a change is a coming

« on: September 17, 2010, 04:49:53 PM »

Hi my name is Cathy I am new here I hae been on dialysis now for about 2 months. I am a 32 year o;d mother of two boys. This is a huge change in my life. One that I do not like but know it is neccessary. I have been in and out of the hospital for the last two months. I almost missed my kids first day of school leaving the hospital less than 12 hours before they started their first day. So I am very unhappy with things right now :Kit n Stik;

I don't blame you for being unhappy.  And, yes, it is a HUGE change in your life.  I'm not on dialysis yet, but my mother was on D for five years, and I have had CKD for a LLLLOOOOONNNNNGGGGG time and it's just a matter of time before I start, and I'm not happy, either.  I suspect that most of IHD members were not very happy after the first 2 months on dialysis.  I hope things get better for you, that you start feeling well enough to enjoy your kids and make lots of happy school memories with them.

It's OK to be unhappy about your situation.  I hope we can cheer you up.  You will see that you are not alone by any means.

G'day Cathy and  :welcomesign;. Dialysis is no fun but I found it becomes routine, with interludes of ghastliness. Stick around with us. There are some reallly experienced people here who will be happy to share with you.

welcome to the site.  Sorry for all you've been going thru.  I have 4 kids and have been in the hospital alot so I know how you feel.  You just have to hang in there and trust that things will get better.

this place is awesome and lots of great folks!
SO WELCOME!

It does suck when ur in and out of hospitals, i spent nearly all of aug in the hospital, missed first day of school, but made up for it after ;) If u talk to ur kids openly about it, at least in my case, with my 6yr old, he seems so understanding, has been since i started, and he was only 3 then... he amazes me. Im sure all kids would be just as understanding, if u show them respect, and explain it to them, we even let my son come in and see me on it, so he knew mommy was ok.

 :welcomesign;  Cathy! What part of Mich are you in? I live in the thumb area. Your feelings are normal but things will get better as your body adjusts. I've been doing D for 16 months and tollerate it very well. Lucily I have never had to be in the hospital. Read , read and read somemore, the more you know the better off you will be.

Going through life tied to a chair!

Oh Cathy, I'm so sorry you have to go through this and try and raise a family.  You can do it.  Just one day at a time and in your "spare" time come here to learn about dialysis so they can't run over you.  Read read and read.

I hope this site makes you smile.     >:D

We've all been there, Cathy.  Happy, sad, sick, in the hospital, out of the hospital.  IT ALL SUCKS!  But you can find some good friends, and some GREAT info here!

Welcome to the "family".   :yahoo; :beer1;
