The AFL began in 1960 with eight teams, including Hilton's Los Angeles Chargers, the Denver Broncos, Dallas Texans, Oakland Raiders, New York Titans, Houston Oilers, Buffalo Bills and the Boston Patriots.

The Chargers moved to San Diego in 1961.

Well, I watched the Bears play the Bills tonight, and once again I was reminded of why the NFL broadcasts are so dull...all of those stupid beer commercials.  You know those ads for Bud Light (I think) which bang on about how unmanly you behaved for not ordering Bud Light?  Oh, I HATE those commericals, and if I were a guy, I'd REALLY be mad.  You're not a "real man" unless you buy this beer...that's just awful.  I don't know if I can endure another season of that crap.

Oh, and the Bears didn't get into the "red zone"...oh no...they got into the "Comcast Sportsnet Red Zone" or some such thing.  The NFL is so corporatist; it's starting to really annoy me.

Yet our Comcast bill is higher, my mute button is getting worn out, I can't stand most of the products they plug anyway and they are annoying if I do not reach the remote fast enough. NASCAR is the same way and can' stand to watch it like when I was younger. There is to much political correctness and what made it famous is not allowed on the air by them. They plug the heck out of a fuel company that is not even in all 50 states, gotta thank every fricken sponsor before a real person that means something, and so on. Sports is not not worth watching unless you are there.

I think the way to go is just DVR it and then skip through the commercials.  I can't be weaned.  If the NFL is on...I am watching.

But if I don't watch it live, then all of my shouting and yelling will go unheard by the coaches!  How will they ever manage without my live support and "encouragement"? :P

You do know that pre-season games mean nothing? The last time the Giants won the Superbowl they lost all of their pre-season games that year.

My point is that Suh is already bouncing new quarterbacks off of the ground. Besides, we haven't even sniffed the playoffs since 1991. I'm ALL-IN this year, which means nothing, because I'm a diehard Lions fan. However, my glorious predictions are being echoed by "sports insiders and experts". It's ON!

I would love to see the Lions being really competitive.  With the Bears, Vikings and Packers, it would make for a very entertaining division.

Trust me HOD & MM,  the Lions will be much better this year!  I firmly believe they will make it to the playoffs!  Congrats to Munchak, he has won his first game as a coach!   TITANS 14  VIKINGS 3

VY has gone to Philly Eagles!  I hope he does much better there than he did here! Good riddens VY and Good Luck!!!

I didn't know VY had gone to the Eagles.  I had wondered where he ended up, if anywhere.

Watching the Texans tonight felt like watching the Bears, what with Danieal Manning and Brad Maynard on the squad.  How bizarre.  Even more bizarre is that the Texans' defense didn't lose the game in the final minutes, as was their modus operandi last season. ::)

Did they play Jay Cutler for very long.  I know he is a Vanderbilt player, very smart, but I dont know if its the offensive line, or just he is too slow!  He is a diabetic, you know!  If you watch the sidelines, they are all the time taking his BS, and every now and then they give him insulin.  Hubby is a major BEARS fan!!!!

Yea, VY went to Eagles to be back up to M. Vick.  Andy Reid is a fairly good coach, so I hope VY has matured from his Titans days, cause he really has the talent.  He just doesnt like to be booooed!  Hopefully, he is over that!

What about Albert Haynesworth? After the way he treated Washington, he is lucky he got a job with New England.  He really hated leaving the Titans, but he saw the big Dollar signs!!!  But he hated Washington.  I think he is with a quality team now, and will step up and do his thing!  He is a hause of a man.  It will take to offensive lineman to tame him.

Are you saying he might be slow due to diabetes?
If that is the case, he should not be playing because then there is something much worse going on and he would not be playing. Diabetes should not be used as an excuse, many other atheles who play sports in the major divisions do not have problems and play fine.

I don't think anyone believes Cutler's diabetes is slowing him down.  The Bears' O-line is not their strong point, and Olin Kreutz's age finally caught up with him; I think Roberto Garza was playing center, but I am not sure who the starter will end up being.  Cutler played only one or two series.  I thought the second stringer Caleb Haney (sp?) looked good, but Mike Martz demoted him to third string for some reason that remains a mystery.

No, Chris, I havent watched the Bears play this year at all!  I was just asking MM, if it was the offensive line or was it Cutler too slow.  Just mentioned the fact that he had diabeties too!  Not using it as an excuse, just an FYI.   Lot of people don't know that he is a diabetic!  They discovered it after he graduated from college.

Did not mean to sound like I was attacking you imunchkin either, just confused by reply. The news did a segment about him being diabetic a couple years ago so he could bing attention to diabetes care to kids.

No, I didnt take it that way either, Chris!  I reread my post and  can see how you thought that!   But how do you think Chicago will do this year?  I havent been watching the preseason, more interest in the Titans this year!  Seems Chris Johnson is still a NO SHOW till he gets his deal.  We have a pretty good core of receivers, so we will see!  I think Mike Munchak brings a different enthusiam to the team!  Jeff Fisher will definately be missed, but I believe the Munch is headed in right direction!

Need to watch a couple more games to get a better idea.
 
Hate it when players hold out tho especially just after a strike. I'm sure someone knows someone in the organization hearing if he has some better offers and if they don't want to meet his needs, cuts his butt loose, quit dragging it on and get the team aquainted so they can coherse smoothly with plays  and signals. Hate when athletes get paid this big money that no one else makes and wants more. If you don't have a good personality and do not have endorsement deals, work on that!

Monday Night Football: Giants/Bears.  We will see how the 1st quarter/half goes. I am really not happy with what the Giants did off season.  We will see.

Chris, Im with you dear!  I read a comment that somebody said on facebook that went something like, " If you get to the Super Bowl with Chris Johnson, and you need 5 yards to win it,, would you bet a 13 million that he will get it?"  I thought that was an interesting analogy!  Yeap, he needs to be at the practices, but he has held out so long, if he gets the deal, it might just "bite him in the butt!".

Heck he could practice the first day and get hurt and be out for the season!!!! One never knows, but I do know he is not worth what he is asking! All it takes is a big man to squash him.  The trick is you got to catch him first cause he is little and elusive and quick!

MM, I don't care to much for M. Marks.  I think last year he put Cutler in some awkward positions, that he could have gotten knocked out!  But Jay did good last year, I mean they made it to I think 2nd or 3rd round in playoffs.

Well, tonight's football game is Pittsburg and Philadelphia.  Im gonna watch and see how VY does.  I hope he does good,I really do!  He has excellent talent and under M. Heimerdinger, he learned alot!  Just don't like the way he did J. Fisher.  Like Fisher caused his little thumb injury and the Fans boooed him! He just needs to be more of a mature leader.

I don't think the Giants did much of anything in way of adding to the team. Like the Bucs. This surprised me.
