The guy who exchanges the carbon tanks for my RO works in the US from time to time. Recently he was in Vegas and at a casino that has a dialysis center in it. Does anyone know which casino it is? I haven't been on vacation in over 13 years and would love to get away, as I'm sure my poor hubby would too!

I was doing a bit of searching but have not come up with a dialysis clinic inside of a casino. There is a newer clinic that caters to visitors called Red Moon Dialysis.  900 S. Main Street Las Vegas Nevada 89101

Lisa, even if you can't find that casino/hotel, don't let that keep you from vacationing to LV. Las Vegas is a big time tourist mecca and the dialysis units there cater to tourists. We've been there twice and had no problem arranging treatments.

A girl in my unit, who also has terminal cancer, went to Las Vegas in May for 2 weeks.  She siad she had a blast.. I don't know where she went, though

Since they have slot machines everywhere in Vegas, maybe they have some in the clinic also. Boy that would take the boredom out of D wouldnt it? What a great place to have our next meet!!!

naw they have special versions of the D machines with the slots built right in, so you can slip the coins in and play during your treatment!!!  :rofl; :rofl; :rofl;

They took the fruit out of the slots though - not much good to win with 3 bannanas !!! the dietician just wouldn't accept that. They have lumps of tofu instead.

Just watch the payout doesn't push your lines out!  :rofl;

Last time I went to Vegas, I went to this unit:

It was off Sahara Ave I believe. Very friendly unit, clean, caring staff. Two of my treatments were in the afternoon, one they called me the night before and asked me to come in for the a.m. shift.
I give them two thumbs up and I will definitely go to them again next time I'm in Vegas.

 RenalSurvivorDotCA, that sounds great! Do you remember what the treatments cost, and how many did you have while there? Did you have to pay up front and reimbursed by the govt later? I NEED to get away with hubby....guess I should get a passport first!

Hi, carson!

The cost was $500 per treatment and I had to pay the $1500 (3 treatments) up front. Actually even before I received the first treatment. Mind you, this was 4 years ago. At the time, my province only reimbursed $200 per treatment. I'd like to go again this fall so I will be looking into the costs again soon.

Oh, BTW, they use the Fresenius 2008K machines. I also brought SureSeal compression bandaids from my unit because those guys don't supply bandaids. Too expensive, they told me. They would fold up a 2x2 and put tape over it. They were shocked when I told them no I didn't buy them; my unit gave them to me to bring. I also had the TipStops too.

$500 a treatment, in addition to $200 from your insurance?  Jeez.  That's a lot of money.   And it's probably even more these days.  I may pay it though because my wife deserves a vacation.
