:oops; I think I spelled it wrong, it's kitschy - It means stuff that might be considered melodramatic, overdone, gaudy and tacky or sentimental and folksy. It's so bad that it's cool. Like my Virgin Mary bank covered in pink glitter. Or my small carved wood and gold angels that wind up and play music. I have a small chandelier with pink crystals, I think that's kitschy too. I missed out on buying a purple flocked velvet Jesus bank, someday I'll find one, I hope.

*chuckles* ... I have a (fairly small) collection of sanitary bags, the sort you find in hotels, etc. in which to put your used girly things in.  They are all unused (as if any of you would think otherwise!)  I hoard too; I save bits of everything in the belief that I'll always need it one day.  Inevitably, everything just piles up on top of everything else and every so often everything gets thrown out or given to charity. Except for everything that I think I'll need one day, obviously ...

 ;D

Collections: perfume bottles

Okarol, your collection of kitsch religious items sounds great to me.  I am a huuge fan of kitsch!  I have started collecting those wondrously dreadful snowdomes.  My first is of my university, which has as its main piece of architecture a single ugly 1970s tower building, known as the ugliest building in Sydney.  I call it my Tower O' Dreams, and in my snowdome, when I shake it, snow swirls around it, and glitter.  Snow!  In Sydney!  I haven't even started describing the nonsense involved in that one cheap gaudy badly made object, ah, I love it so.

I guess I can say I collect odd item that talk and move. I have a 2 in by 2 in box that shakes around by slight touch or movement that has a voice that makes a knocking sound and says "excuse me, excuse me! CAN SOMEONE LET ME OUT OF HERE?" I had a keychain that my parrot loved and learned from that had swear words. I have two others, one from animaniac (another box that makes sounds, and a figure of a kid in a karate suit that yells and makes karate moves that the cats get their noses hit when they investigate and try to swatch at it. The voices these things make is funny to me.

Where did you get that???? I WANT ONE!!!  That kinda reminds of the box who's sole purpose was to turn itself off when you turned it on. You flip the switch to turn it on, and a hand pops out and flips the switch off.  I saw it online somewhere.

I'm a gadget nerd.  I like stuff that does stuff.  Stephen Colbert has a pen that I want, but I'm not willing to pay $50 for a pen.. *L*  it lights up.  That was the price in 2006 anyway.. perhaps the price has gone down since then.

Riki, I never noticed the pen Stephen Colbert has. I have or had a pen that lights up that also changed colors. Cool to look at, but battery didn't seem to last long, but was also in my book bag during college classes, so may have turned on and off many times without knowing. Didn't pay $50 for it either. There is a Doctor Who gadget I want that is $40 that makes sounds, lights up,and does other things that I saw on BBC America website when looking up episode guide.

The box I got was back in 1997 from Spencers. I like gadgets too.

I could have soooo much fun with that..

I think my first toy that did something was a Ronald McDonald doll that has a music box inside it. His nose was the crank to wind up the music box.

I'm excited, I made the list.  Now I list my likes and dislikes.  Lets see my only dislike is anything stinky, LOL.  My kids call me a hippie cause I love tie dye, so anything tie dyed is great, actually anything is great.  I am far from picky. Would love anything from the area my secret pal is from.  The holidays will be upon us before we know it, and I hope everyone has a very healthy and happy holiday season!!!
