Hello to all!

I am a In-center Hemo Dialysis patient, going on my 4th month now, and I HATE DIALYSIS!!!  With a passion!   :sarcasm;

I have a Davita Center that is close to my home and work that I go to, and the people there are just fantastic!  I love them all as they have taken such good care of me!  But I HATE DIALYSIS!  I think that I am in the denial stage still.  I use to be a "strong, bull of a man", and now I am a tired, fragile OLD MAN of 47.  I hate feeling like I do.

I have Polycystic Kidney Disease, which is why I am on Dialysis!  My mother had it and died, my sister had it and died, and I am next in line!  My mom died @ 67 y/o and my sister @ 58 y/o.

I am currently doing my dialysis and still trying to maintain a full work week of about 50 hours or so.  I come in super early on the days that I go have Dialysis in the afternoon, so I can put in a full 10 hours, BEFORE I go do my 4 1/4 hours @ the center.  It isn't easy, but I have a family to support and bills to pay!

Anyway enough about me!  Thanks for listening!

Nothing wrong with denial as long as it doesn't keep you from doing what you have to do, ie keep up with your treatments.

I know that transplantation is not the answer for everyone, but would it be a viable alternative in your case?  I'm just thinking that if both your mom and your sister died of PKD, perhaps you could pre-emptively buck the trend and be transplanted.

I skipped the denial stage and went straight to anger; I've been stuck there for years. ::)

Nice to hear from another PKD patient!  I hate dialysis too but am now on the Night Cycler Peritoneal Dilaysis at home.  It beats hemodialysis.

Thanks for the welcome!  I just finished filling out all the paperwork for the transplant list, so we shall see where that goes.

I think you are right, maybe I am in the ANGER stage.  I hate everything about the whole process.  The only thing that is good, is that the Technicians at my center are 100% ANGELS.  They know how I hate it and they really try to make things as pleasant as possible, keeping the environment "light hearted".  But, . . . I hate it!

I've been dealing with kidney failure for 25 years and I'm still in the denial stage.  Every once in a while it crosses my mind "I can't believe I have to do this crap".

Welcome to IHD.  I think you will  enjoy this site
