Last year, in November, I started writing a novel. I was hoping to have it finished by this November, but I'm having trouble with motivation. I got into a bit of a funk in January, and it kind of lasted till about May, although, I think I may still be in it, it's just not as bad as it was.  Anyway, I need someone to give me a swift kick in the behind to get it at least half done by November.  I was wondering if any of you wanted the job.

I'll kick your butt.  First, write (a PM if you prefer) and tell me what the novel is about in one paragraph.

Yeah, we want a synopsis!  Give us details of genre, at least.  Describe it - maybe you will respark your own interest by tweaking ours!

Ok.  A synopsis.... let me think..

Wel, this is what I put on my blog.  It's kind of like what you'd see on the back of the book..

Chuck Conyers, the reigning Nascar champion, gets a month long suspension for unsportsmanlike conduct when he intentionally spins out another driver.  He heads home to South Carolina, and in a conversation with his ex-wife, he gets an idea that he thinks will help reacquaint himself with his thirteen year old son.  Chuck never realized, however, how much your life can change in a month.

I posted an excerpt on the blog too, but that particular scene needs to be rewritten.

I've already got the story down, Rerun. *L*  I just need to write it out.. at the moment, he's in a physical relationship with the designer he hired to help build the go cart track that he's building with his son, but every time he spends the night with her, he has an odd dream about his exwife

Wel, this is what I put on my blog.  It's kind of like what you'd see on the back of the book..

So you've done some cutting and pasting, which shows good time management skills.  But you were asking for prompts to get writing, not prompts to cut and paste.   So let me try a different tack.

Can you please provide a chapter by chapter, list of chapter headings, and under each chapter, at least two or three sentences describing what happens in that chapter.  For example:

Chapter One:  in which whatsisname drives home to South Carolina, thinking about recent events in which he did the dirty on the other guy and got suspended.  Sentence two blah blah.

Chapter Two:  etc.

I don't have the chapters figured out, though, I'm sure they are there naturally... have you ever heard of NaNoWriMo? It's basically a writing marathon, where you get everything out in free flow, and once it's down, then you do the editing, which includes figuring the chapters.  It's supposed to be all done in the month on November, but last November was a bad month for me, with fistula surgery, a wedding and 2 funerals, I didn't get it done.  I decided to keep at it instead of just tossing it to the side. With this funk that I've been in, I basically just need some kind of motivation to write

gothiclovemonkey, I have a hard copy backup, in case anything should happen to my computer

I think Riki's butt is unkickable.  She must have superior butt wiggling powers to elude the boot.   :sir ken;
I've tried but I just keep winding up flat on my own back, like when Lucy holds the football for C.Brown.

Thanks Marina.  I have another friend with that name, though I think she spells it differently.. She always told me that I should write horror or noir fiction.  I'm not sure why.  She wrote a book herself, but it was nonfiction.  It's about how to increase libido through diet. Unfortunately, for those of us on a renal diet, we can't follow her diet, because it involves eating an ounce of dark chocolate every day. I wouldn't mind that, though... *G*

I had several stories started, in fact 40 pages or so written on one idea.  Computer hard drive crashed this summer.  Lost everything.  Oh well back to the idea of a poetry anthology!

Apparently I'm re-writing the Bible.  I just found it on my hard-drive ... I'm on 499 words, and fear it may be a long slog to get it finished.
