You are correct Galvo.
Gregory's lyrics were from The Honeymoon is Over, by the Cruel Sea, from the album by the same name. Tex Perkins is the singer.
A rocking stonkin album from a man with hair.

Let's try an oldie (but a goodie):

Resting in a billet, just behind the line,
Even tho'we're parted, your lips are close to mine.
You wait where that lantern softly gleams.
Your sweet face seems to haunt my dreams.

I had to cheat to find your song Galvo so I will not tell, but I did listen to it and it is a good song.

Things worked out better than we had planned
Capital from boy, woman and man
We were like ink and paper
Numbers on a calculator
Knew arithmetic so well
Working overtime completed what was assigned
We had to multiply ourselves
A bouncing little baby
A shiny copper penny

[slaps forehead]  we were led astray by AIRon's tricks!   ;)  I thought he was adding more to the same song.  [grinning blush] Gregory knew they were different songs, he says.
Galvo, your mysterious lyrics still stand...

Yeah thats Faith no more, everythings ruined. Galvo's song was hard and there is a significant generation gap between the song and myself...I am only guessing because I did listen to it I am not sure if it was the original or a remake but the time period is obvious.

Well done NatnGreg. It was Lilly Marlene and the most famous English language version was that by Marlene Deitrich.

It was originally the song of the German Afrika Korps in World War 2.

Gregory says he's gonna look that up, because when Bob Rogers used to play it, it was a bloke singing it.  (Its a show on the radio, Bob Rogers, the music you grew up with on 2CH)... he wants to know who that bloke was now...  anyway, the new lyrics from NatnGreg (actually just from Greg) are:

You may be king, you may posses the world and its gold
but gold wont bring you happiness when you're growing old

Strike me gently, I've been asleep! OK, have a go at:

"Pushin horns weren't easy like the movie said it was
And I don't recall no dance hall girls
Or hotel rooms with rugs
You worked hot and tired and nasty
Rode your pony's head too low
There were all the nights you couldn't sleep
'Cause it was too damn cold"

And now we ride the circus wheel
With your dark brother wrapped in white
Says it was good to be alive
But now he rides a comet's flame
And won't be coming back again
The Earth looks better from a star
That's right above from where you are
He didn't mean to make you cry
With sparks that ring and bullets fly
On empty rings around your heart
The world just screams and falls apart

Gregory says the song is called "little lambs eat ivy".  He says its from the Sound of Music.

I didn't even realise it was a song... my brother and i used to say that to each other way way back when... in early primary school i think... I thought it was a children's rhyme!  hehehehee!

Oh um hmmm...   Isn't it amazing how many songs you think of, the title is in the good section of the lyrics...

I thought of this one and actually given we are at 5 years, its probably appropriate.  The supplementary question for five extra points is, who had this as their quote on their profile?

The colours of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
are also on the faces of people passing by
I see friends shaking hands, saying "how do you do?"
they're really saying "I love you"...

I see trees of green, and clouds of white
the bright blessed day, the dark sacred night...

"What A Wonderful World" Originally by Louis Armstrong, later by Joey Ramone (Such a moving version...did you all know that Joey recorded it right after he got diagnosed with lyymphoma?)

"The essence of it all
It's to live your life
Cause right before the storm
A new hope will arise"

Name this song and artist (Bet you'll never guess this one..*laughs wickedly*.)

I dislike Fred Durst immensely, and this avatar and title are a joke. If you like Limp Bizquik as I call them, this is not here to offend you, it is here as a joke!
