Has anyone ever had good clearences like this?
My clearence is 85 percent with a KT over V of 2.1!
It's good dialysis, but I'm still tired, it's good to know I'm getting good dia;lysis though!

May 20, 2009, started dialysis with a groin cath
May 25, 2009, permacath was placed
august 24, 2009, was suppose to have access placement but instead was admited to hospital for low potassium

Congratulations Sullidog!!!

I just had mine done and got a result of 2.2 - the highest it's ever been for me. I'm on PD but a "slow transporter", so we've been trying to fine tune the prescription for quite some time. I need slow dwells, and actually four manual exchanges a day are ideal for me, but I teach and cannot do it at school. So I use the cycler with two long dwells, then a manual exchange around 3pm when I get home. This did the trick!!

When I was just in the hospital for hip replacement (see posting "surgery nightmare"), I had a crackpot nephrologist hounding me that PD was not working and that I had to change to HD. They even had restricitons on taking blood and blood pressure from one of my arms. I fought him off and prevailed - only to get an excellent Kt/v. Hear that Dr. Ercolani????

PD Kt/V is not comparable with HD Kt/V...

agreed. I do HD and my Kt/V last session was 1.32 yet my clearance is a healthy 75%. I'm not too fussed since I know my dialysis is  going OK. I've been going at a slower pump speed(300 vs. 350/370 I used to run at) and I believe that is chiefly responsible for the lower Kt/V. I have been getting uncomfortable hot flushes running faster for reasons that are yet to be determined, so I have decided I prefer a comfortable, decent treatment over a higher number..... because let's just face it, it's a number.

Having said that, getting 2.1 with an 85% clearance is freakin awesome!!!! Congratulations!!! :)

With hemodialysis, a Kt/V well over 2.0 might indicate recirculation of the access blood or the person drawing the sample incorrectly using the venous port (blue) instead of the arterial port (red).

No transplant.  Not yet, anyway.  Only decided to be listed on 11/9/06. Inactive at the moment.  ;)
I make films.

Just the facts: 70.0 kgs. (about 154 lbs.)
Treatment: Tue-Thur-Sat   5.5 hours, 2x/wk, 6 hours, 1x/wk
Dialysate flow (Qd)=600;  Blood pump speed(Qb)=315
Fresenius Optiflux-180 filter--without reuse
Fresenius 2008T dialysis machine
My KDOQI Nutrition (+/ -):  2,450 Calories, 84 grams Protein/day.

Are you refering to a catheter? I have a graft.

I'm referring to the ports on the blood lines, not the access tubing.
