I'm so glad you found us.  We are always grateful for new members who are willing to take the time to tell us about their experiences; we all have so much to learn from each other, so thank you for taking the time to post.  You must have seen a lot in all of your years on dialysis.  Gee, since 1978!  That's impressive.  I'm eager to hear your thoughts on plasmapheresis as you decide on your next step.

Hi Noah and welcome to IHD.  You story is so similar to mine.  I started dialysis at age 24 in 1987.  My transplant lasted 17 years and I returned to dialysis in 2005 and my antibodies are high since 25 years ago they gave me 5 rapid blood transfusions as part of the transplant work-up.  I am really looking forward to your posts and I hope you stick around.

Welcome!  It's always encouraging to hear from "old-timers".   What is "reuse"???

reuse is when dialyzers and needles are cleaned and used a second time, instead of only using them the one time.  I don't think it happens much anymore.  I remember when I was a kid on dialysis, a girl with me went to Children's Wish and went on a trip to Florida.  Her mother had to force the unit she was at to use new needles every time

You went through and deleted nearly all of your posts?!? That is a shitty thing to do it, undermines the cohesion of the board.

Smart move.   Re-use didn't work out so well for those Columbians who picked up HIV back in 1991-1993: http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00037163.htm

I agree. The last person that did that was banned, so they could do no more damage to the forum.
And you were a mod too! It's treason.
