 :thumbup; Jenna saw her nephrologist today and once again her lab numbers are steady! Her creatinine is at 3.21, slightly lower than last month. The Brave Little Kidney is hanging tough and still working like a champ! It's been 8 months since rejection knocked out some of it's function, but she's feeling great, her numbers are good and we are so very grateful! Also very thankful for her donor Patrice, who is a triathlete and marathon runner and there's no doubt in my mind that she gave Jenna one tough little bean!  :bow;

I think I had a dream about Jenna last night because I woke up this morning wondering how she was doing, and voila!  Here's an update on her brave little kidney.  That' absolutely fabulous news; I am sure you all heaved a huge sigh of relief!  How wonderful.  Oh, I am so happy for you, Jenna and the whole family!

The labs slip was faxed over today and it shows Jenna's creatinine is actually 3.15 - yeah, I know - not much difference statistically but that's the lowest it has been since she returned from Paris. Her GFR is 18, hemoglobin 11 and tacrolimus is good!   :beer1;

Karol and Jenna- This is such great news, I am so sorry I have not been around much lately but sometimes all the bad new takes toll and I have to take a break for awhile, this is such good news I had to join in and say how happy this makes me feel. So glad Jenna is doing better and getting good news, it will brighten her spirits and help her keep to the brighter side of things.... good luck and stay doing whatever it is that you do to make that magic continue to work.  :yahoo; :grouphug;

It's funny but there's a nurse at my unit who calls me "Sir Richard the Brave" (no idea why) and whenever he says it I think about Jenna's Brave Little Kidney (hey any excuse to think about a beautiful young lady, right?  >:D). I'm just so happy for her that it's struggling along keeping its head above water (that's a poor pun I know) and keeping her away from dialysis for now. I know it's not what any of you wanted, but it's much better than it could be, and hopefully keeping to the meds and everything being well it can stay stable for a long time!

Jenna has had a blood pressure reading of around 140/100 for the last 2 weeks. Nephrologist is adding Amlodipine (Norvasc) to her pill regimen. She still feels good and her kidney is stable at GFR 18.

Hi Karol

About five years ago a friend of mine went through a rejection period with their transplant and they also had a problem with increased blood pressure 180/125 which they also corrected with medication.  She still has the same kidney and has had no further problems with it.  She went off all her blood pressure medications about two years ago.  She is currently on safari in Africa and says she has never felt better in her life.  She is in her early 30's so hopefully it will be the same outcome for Jenna.

I wish it was. Experiencing kidney disease during her teen years didn't help her social life, being pretty shy already, she tends to isolate. She says she doesn't mind being alone all the time, but I wish she'd meet someone.
