oh, I've just only now seen this thread.  This is just the most fantastic news!  Jenna must feel like she has a whole new life to live!  How wonderful!  The world must look so different to you now!

Thanks everyone, I don't know how I'd cope without your fine example!

That is great news for Jenna. She was a lot more worried than she let on.  Isn't it great to get some comfort news for a change.  :2thumbsup;

You're right, she was playing it cool, trying not to freak out.
Yes, good news is really nice right now!

That is great news indeed!!

I know I was feeling very tired at that creatinine level but it has to be better than dialysis.  I pray that the brave little kidney continues to improve!!

Last Sunday Jenna and I attended the Renal Support Network's monthly support group meeting in Glendale. This time it was a picnic at the park - it was really fun - blazing hot temperatures but lots of shade and water balloons. Renal friendly food and and nice folks made it nice - Jenna actually spoke to another young woman close to her age who is on dialysis.  :2thumbsup;

On Wed. we went down to La Jolla to see the transplant team for the every-other-month check up (since the rejection episode) which is different than the local nephrologist (also seeing him on alternating months.) We met with the transplant surgeon, which seemed confusing to him, he thought we would see their neph, but it actually turned out to be interesting. Doc looked over her labs - GFR at 18 and creatinine at 3.2 - and he said things were looking pretty good. I asked what he thought about staying at the same creatinine for 7 months and he said "It's puzzling." He could not explain it, but said to keep up what she's been doing. Finally got the immunos worked out, she's been up and down with the Prograf too low and Cellcept too high - the Cellcept tablets are 1000 mg and Jenna has to cut them in quarters to take a small enough dose.
This Brave Little Kidney is still running the marathon - no telling for how long, but for today things are very good!
