Yup let's just add to the list. This weekend was tough on Frank, it has been HOT & Humid here in the North East so Saturday he was having such a hard time breathing & coughing up blood in his phelm. He wouldn't go back to the hospital (who can blame him he has only been home 8 days after being in 32 days). He had a doctors appointment with the Urologist in the am before dialysis Monday. The Doc told me to have them order chest xray & blood gas there at hospital (he is still doing dialysis as outpatient at the hospital as the Davita doesn't have beds & he is still in tough shape). The blood gas came back fine but the xray showed fluid in his lungs (I was actually pleased as I was half expecting them to say the cancer had spread to the lungs also). They also had to give him 2 units of blood (that is now 27 units since April). They took off 5 liters of fluid & said they will be aggressive on the next treatment also. His right leg (the one with the blood clot) is so swollen , he keeps saying look at my fat leg) His breathing is better today, still slightly laboard but much better than this weekend. They also told me at dialysis last week that he is not near his dry weight yet. Why does it take so long to get there?

Well Franks feeling much better after they took off loads of fluid this week. All 3 sessions they took off between 4-5 liters. His breathing is much better, he stopped hacking up blood. His feet look almost normal again. I just don't understand why they where not taking off enough fluid in his previous sessions.Yesterday they wanted to take 5500 but when he got to 4800 he started feeling pain in his stomach so they ended his session 20 minutes early. He was really wiped out & it was a tough ride home but he said last nights sleep was awsome, the best he has had since starting D. Hurrah, maybe this will work & he will start feeling human again.

Oh Diane, so good to hear a little better news about Frank.  He's really been through the proverbial mill.

Thank God Frank's doing a bit better... Hope the improvement continues...

I am glad to hear he is doing better.  One of the reasons that they cannot pull all the fluid off at once is that his blood pressure will bottom out if they pull too much off at once.  The first 30 days of dialysis I lost 17 k's.  I am now usually about 1.5 over when I go in.
