Hello, My name is Jen, aka Gothiclovemonkey, aka the Squrl
 I stumbled upon this site while looking for info on pd, as i just started doing pd. I have FSGS, and no idea why. When i was 10 i lost my first kidney to a 25lb terratoma tumor in my abdomen. I found out i had kidney failure in 04, when i had my son at 5 1/2 mos due to me getting really sick.
I had been on hemo since 07, i hate it very very much. Pd has been so much better. While id rather not have to do it, im glad pd is available it really has been a life saver for me. Cant stand hemo....
I was going to davita from 07 to 09, it was a terrible experience. I ended up going to the hospital, which was in another town, the dialysis center their seemed a better fit, so i transfered, and things were much better. Then i found out about pd... :)
Im a single mom of an awesome little boy, im a dork, anything else u want to know u can ask me. :)
Nice to meet you :grouphug;

Welcome Jen/Gothiclovemonkey/squrl - hmm I'm sure there are stories there, but I'm almost afraid to ask!!  >:D

Glad to have you with us, but not glad you hated hemo, but glad you found and can do pd, and hope that works for you for a long time. Thus the glads outweigh the "not glad"s, so you better stay now!!!

 :welcomesign; Glad you found us. I don't even do hemo as I'm my hubby's caregiver, but I hate it also & he has only been doing it since June 11th. I wish he could have tried PD but too much scarring. Hope you post often.

I was always on PD.  I started young, like you, when I was 12.  I've had 2 transplants so far, and I'm hoping the 3rd one comes along soon.  The last time, I was on PD for almost 5 years, and I had to stop because of a really bad peritonitis episode.  I seriously thought I was gonna die, it was so bad.  I went on what was supposed to be temporary hemo, but about 6 months into it, they tried to place a new PD catheter, but the peritonitis had done it's damage, and there was too much scar tissue to bother.  I'm actually doing better on hemo than I was on PD, although I miss the freedom that PD provides.  Everyone has their good days and bad days, but I've noticed that I've had a heck of a lot more good days on hemo than I ever did on PD.  Would I go back to PD if I could?  In a heartbeat, but I"m doing so good on hemo, I can sacrifice the freedom I had to feel 10x better than I did before

Hey, Jen, welcome to the group.  I couldn't agree more about PD.  I love it and absolutely hated hemo when I had to go on it for 6 months.  Glad you found us.
