Hi all.  I'm not new year, but I haven't been around in a few years, so I figured it's probably best that I start off introducing myself again.  I did post once, and then figured I'd better do this.. *G*

The basics of my transplant and dialysis info is in my signature. I've been on and off dialysis since I was 12 years old, so if anyone has any questions about being a kid on dialysis, feel free to ask.  I'm an open book.

I love near Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, so if any of you are Regis and Kelly fans, you saw my Island Paradise on their show last week. I'm 32 years old, am legally blind, and live with my mom and my kitty.

Welcome RIki!!! wow, so you've been dealing with dialysis and transplant for 20 years? that's a long time and a lot to go through - specially as a teenager and young woman - and then being legally blind too - I have poor vision also so I totally understand where you're coming from. By sheer co-incidence I also listened to a travel podcast about PEI just a few days ago!!!! (http://canada.amateurtraveler.com/2010/07/10/travel-to-prince-edward-island-in-canada/). Sounds nice. I may have to visit someday and say hello to you and your kitty. MEOW!

you know, I've spent all night reading the "ignorant things people say" thread, and I laughed so hard.  I've been sitting here for a few minutes trying to remember why I left this site.  It was at least 4 years ago, so who knows...

I actually found a post of my own from 2006 in that thread.. kind of tickled me.  There's probably a lot of little posts like that from me back then all over the place

Goofynina and Epoman - Gone But Not Forgotten

WWW
« Reply #5 on: July 18, 2010, 06:40:18 AM »

Welcome back (AND DON'T YOU DARE LEAVE US AGAIN!)
So much has happened since you were last here.  I checked your posts (you can do it from the profile) and saw that your last post was Oct 2006!!!  Since then, we lost Epoman and then Goofynina, among others.  So you have a lot of catching up to do.  I am looking forward to your input again.
You have no idea what the name 'Charlottetown' and 'Prince Edward Island' mean to me.  I was reared on the Anne of Green Gable series of back in the 50's, 60's.  I introduced my daughter to it and some years ago bought the DVD.
Tell me, since you are legally blind how do you surf the 'Net?
Welcome back to your family :grouphug;

I read the bit on Epoman.  I really liked him.

I have less than 5% perpheral vision, so I can see straight ahead, but not to the sides like most people.  I can't see out of the corner of my eye, it's like a blurry spot, or like the static on a tv.

October 2006, huh?  I wonder what could have pulled me away then...... probably Stephen Colbert.  I was deep into the Colbert Report fandom at that point, still am, I guess.  My first trip to New York City was to go to a taping of the show.

you can thank whoever looks after the twitter feed for my return. I was followed.  When I saw it was ihatedialysis, I thought, "cool.  The site still exists."  so I came by to check a few things out. So, I signed in, and my old un and pw still worked.
