Ok, I'm all for the kidney vino...and frankly, if it will keep me alive, I willingly go to the resultant AA meetings for overindulging the kidney vino.  But then again, do they have a liver vino? Because you might need it if takes a few buckets a week to cure the kidney disease, and then your liver gets shot...tsk tsk...did they think this through?

oh, dammit. just gonna have to stick with dialysis.

If by Muscadine they're referring to the Muscat family of grapes, that would be white wine. The best of which is Muscat Blanc au Petite Grains, it has the most phenolic compounds in the Muscat family.
They're is a real danger in buying wine for it's health properties, an example of this is what happened with California Merlot. In the last ten years when it was discovered that the phenolic compounds found particularly in Merlot gave a health benefit many producers started growing their merlot at very high crop levels which in turn reduced the level of phenolic compounds so low that they might as well have been drinking Hungarian Pinot Gris ( Hungarian pinot gris has almost no phenolic compounds as it derives the majority of its flavour from acidic compounds).
If the grapes for this "wine" are shipped as must (unfermented grape juice) which is most certainly the case the phenolic compounds will have broken down and become useless.

Wine and beer 'could reduce kidney cancer risk'

Drinking wine or beer could reduce the risk of kidney cancer, according to a new Swedish study.

Researchers at Stockholm's Karolinska Institute looked at the link between consumption of various types of alcoholic drink and the risk of developing kidney cancer.

The study, published in the British Journal of Cancer, looked at 855 people with kidney cancer and a control group of 1,204 people who did not have cancer. They reported on their intake of beer, wine, fortified wine and spirits.

The researchers, led by Professor Alicja Wolk, found that the risk of developing kidney cancer was 40 percent lower for people who consumed 620 grammes of alcohol a month, compared with those who did not drink at all. They found that the risk was reduced in people who drank more than two glasses of red wine a week, or comparable amounts of white wine or normal-strength beer.

Consumption of weaker beers, fortified wines and spirits was not linked to a reduced risk of cancer, they found.

The scientists believe that the connection between alcohol and the reduced risk of kidney cancer could be due to the presence in some drinks of antioxidants and antimutagenics.
