A friend of mine is pregnant, and is considering letting us adopt her baby rather than having an abortion.  (No abortion debates please.  :))Please pray that she decides to let us, and that she has a healthy and easy pregnancy, and that we are able to make this happen.  I'd really appreciate it, as it could go either way at this point (it would be a big sacrifice for her to carry this child to term, in many respects).   :thx;

Edit: We have also inquired about adopting a 14 year old boy that I never posted about.  Prayers and good thoughts would be appreciated.  If he ends up not coming home to us, he really deserves a good family, as he's been through a rough few years.

God will work things out for the best. Thankyou for wanting to be in an unborn child's life, that speaks volumes. I pray you get to help in both child's lives.

My thoughts and prayers are with both of you, and the children.

My husband's son adopted a little boy who went to their church with his foster family.  He is adorable and oh, so sweet.  But, please be cautious.  Mike and I were hoping to adopt a baby from a young girl we knew.  She went into labor a several weeks premature (on MY birthday!) the doctors were able to stop the labor but she realized how much she and the baby's father cared about the baby when she almost lost it and they kept her!  I was so heartbroken, and more so after I heard she was being neglected before she was a year old.  It took me years to get over that.

What a painful situation, I am so sorry.   :cuddle;  Even if my friend decides to let us adopt, there's always that chance as she's farther along, or after the delivery that she will change her mind.  She's the type of person who really doesn't want children, doesn't enjoy interacting with them, etc. but there's still a risk.

Sara try to stay positive, worrying won't change anything, but if you show any doubt or fear it could invite a problem. Remain positive and supporting and things will turn out good.

Thanks for the kind words.  It sounds like you have a much better situation than we did.   :2thumbsup;  I hope it goes well.  :cuddle; I wasn't trying to be negative but I wanted you to be aware of how hard it can be when things don't go as planned.  Should have known I didn't have to say that to anyone who has to deal with dialysis ;D  Lean on your lawyer -- they have the benefit of experience and can be a great source of support and solid advice.

BTW, my adopted grandson is the older one in my avatar.  It's remarkable how much he looks like by daughter-in-law!!  No one would ever think that he is adopted.  The baby looks like my husband  :lol;

My prayers are with you all.  My father was adopted, and so was my brother; I think extremely highly of all people who love a child and are willing to give him/her a good home, whether they do it by allowing someone else to raise the child, or do it by raising the child as adoptive parents.

Thanks for all your prayers and good thoughts.  Just to update, tomorrow was the scheduled day for her abortion, I am still not sure if she's going to go through with it.  I probably won't know until Tuesday.  Even if she doesn't make this appointment, she could still schedule it later.   :(

As for the 14 yr old, still have not been able to get anyone at agency that handles adoptions on the phone, left another message today.  I may just stop by there tomorrow or Monday.  In the mean time, still working on getting our house ready for a homestudy (where they come and inspect you!  :o)

I adopted my oldest son who is 21yrs old. It was a little easier than what your doing because he is my ex wifes biological son, but they still did a background check and a home study,it wasn't really all that bad. Good Luck!!

I'm happy to share any information, so don't worry about that.  :lol;  I found out today that the 14 year old has already been placed in a home, which is good for him.  Makes me a little sad, but really it would have taken us a while before we were ready.  I will find out tomorrow (Tuesday) if my friend followed through with her abortion appointment that was supposed to be on Dec 1.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Well, it's not happening.  She told me today she found out she's 14 weeks along and the pregnancy is not where it should be (I think she's meaning ectopic, in the tube rather than uterus) and that there's nothing they can do to save the pregnancy and it has to be ended.  Sad.    :(  So we're back to square 1.  We can sign up for the necessary classes to do adoption through the foster system, those classes are in Jan/Feb I think.  So I guess that's something to look forward to.
