chin up fistula is for the most part the best soultion. & buttonholes are the way to go, no large bumps sticking out nor sharp needles. any surgrey sucks but you should certanly feel much better after you start using it. like someone said get your dr to prescribe mild seditaves, helped me for the first 8 months. i was a wuss too. best of luck.

Whelp, looks like I'm getting my fistula come Monday, I'm still a bit apprehensive but thanks to everyone's responses I do feel better about it, now I'm just anxious to get it over and done with.

Yes, the anticipation is the hardest part.  It is pure hell.
