NxStage Medical signs Dutch Dirinco Group to market its portible dialysis device in the Netherlands, agreement runs through 2015
NxStage Medical Inc. (Nasdaq:NXTM) has a new five-year distribution deal with a Dutch company for its System One portable dialysis device and related supplies.
Under the pact, the privately held Dutch Dirinco Group gains exclusive rights to market System One to dialysis centers in the Netherlands. Dirinco also will make the device available to critical care patients and has the option to sell NxStage Medisystems buttonhole needles throughout the region.
Over the past year, Lawrence, Mass.-based NxStage has inked a series of distribution deals with foreign re-sellers. They include a similar agreement signed in May 2009 with Kimal plc to market System One through the United Kingdom and Ireland. The company also has a deal with Japan-based Asahi Kasei Kuraray Medical Co. Ltd., which includes Asahi providing it with a $40 million term loan that defers half of the 8 percent annual interest costs until the loan matures in May 2013.
Prior to the Kimal and Asahi agreements, NxStage products were sold almost solely in the United States and Canada. The company last month reported total 2009 revenues of $148.7 million and said it was expecting sales to reach as high as $170 million this year.
