How many people out there have nothing to say? How many just want to say hello and check on friends? How many do not want to strain their brains with heavy topics? Yeah, me too.

If I keep my brain active I don't think about my health, I forget I've got continuing tinnitus, itch and headaches go away.

Damn! I've remembered I've got tinnitus.  >:(

Admin for IHateDialysis 2008 - 2014, retired.
Jenna is our daughter, bad bladder damaged her kidneys.
Was on in-center hemodialysis 2003-2007.
7 yr transplant lost due to rejection.
She did PD Sept. 2013 - July 2017
Found a swap living donor using social media, friends, family.
New kidney in a paired donation swap July 26, 2017.

Yeah, the last year I have been that way. Not into the heavy topics, get bored fast if I have to read a lot to get to the next entry.

Diabetes -  age 7

Neuropathy in legs age 10

Eye impairments and blindness in one eye began in 95, major one during visit to the Indy 500 race of that year
   -glaucoma and surgery for that
     -cataract surgery twice on same eye (2000 - 2002). another one growing in good eye
     - vitrectomy in good eye post tx November 2003, totally blind for 4 months due to complications with meds and infection

Diagnosed with ESRD June 29, 1999
1st Dialysis - July 4, 1999
Last Dialysis - December 2, 2000

Kidney and Pancreas Transplant - December 3, 2000

Cataract Surgery on good eye - June 24, 2009
Knee Surgery 2010
2011/2012 in process of getting a guide dog
Guide Dog Training begins July 2, 2012 in NY
Guide Dog by end of July 2012
Next eye surgery late 2012 or 2013 if I feel like it
Home with Guide dog - July 27, 2012
Knee Surgery #2 - Oct 15, 2012
Eye Surgery - Nov 2012
Lifes Adventures -  Priceless

Ummm. . . I'm one of those people who can start up a conversation standing in line at the grocery store.  Apparently, it's genetic.  None of the women in my family have ever NOT had something to say. . . .

Changed to CAPD in April 2008.  Now on PD with a cycler.  Working very part time - teaching music.  Love it.  Husband is Paul (we're both 46), daughter Molly is 13.

Home haemo 1980-1985 (self-cannulated with 15 gauge sharps)
Cadaveric transplant 1985
New upper-arm fistula April 2008
Uldall-Cook catheter inserted May 2008
Haemo-dialysis, self care unit June 2008
(2 1/2 hours X 5 weekly)
Self-cannulated, 15 gauge blunts, buttonholes.
Living donor transplant (sister-in law Kathy) Feb. 2009
First failed kidney transplant removed Apr.  2009
Second trx doing great so far...all lab values in normal ranges

I find it really hard not to say anything!!  I can have a nice conversation with someone I don't know in the checkout line as well!! I used to be really shy but have changed since I've gotten older. Maybe I'm making up for lost time!! LOL

what a pretty saying......I get tired of talking a bunch, my Mom is bedridden and can't talk very well anymore- so I spend 3-4 hours a day talking constantly, she likes to listen. But I dont mind, I love her! When I get home- silence is lovely.

I like this, also.    My ears get tired of words.  Sometimes it seems like endless babble swirling around me.  Silence is golden.   And I hate talking on the phone. Small talk wears me out.    See, I do have things to say, just don't always want to say them or hear what others say!

I really do like this thread.  So easy.  Just wondering if anyone else ever had a friend (not a spouse or a lover) that you could go spend and entire with, and next day when people ask 1. What did you do?  2. Where did you go?  What did you talk about? And would you ever do that again, the answers would be !. I don’t remember 2. I’m not sure, 3. Nothing much, 4.  Love to.

Just wondering is everyone has  a friend (not a spouse or a lover) that you can sit with and not feel pressure to come up with conversation?

How about a friend you can be with and start laughting  (without saying a word) and know precisely what the other sees funny?

Yup, I've got those kind of friends.  Got a sister that fits in those categories, too.  My sister and the 3 friends I have like that are the ones who dropped everything and raced to the transplant hospital to be with me.
