LOVE will fix ANYTHING.

« on: January 02, 2010, 06:36:58 PM »

:bandance;  Ok so for the New Year I have thought of a wonderful ideal !!!  Wouldn't it be great on here to start a book trade?  We could all mail each other books that we have read to inspire one another, intrigue one another... or maybe just get emotionally moved in some way!!

Please let me know if anyone would like to participate in this and maybe we can get it started!

Oh and if anyone just wants to mail me books that would be ok too!!!

Good idea, but I think we have a section to trade DVD's and books already.  I don't know how it is going since I didn't participate.  I think it was my idea though.

That was my first thought to rerun before I saw your post. I haven't seen any recent activity in it, but Nursewratchet sent YLGuy a book for Christmas that she wanted him to pass onto other members (forgot title). Might be hard to do in this economy though with some of the books, especially the heavy ones I have.

It is in the Premium Member section that I found it. It looks like it was more geared towards selling or trading books of any kind, also CD's and DVD's.

How do you see it working JD?  Would we send you our addresses and you pull someone out of a hat?

What an interesting idea!

Perhaps we could exchange some video's, DVD's, CD's?

I am still searcing for films like F.W. Murnau's "Sunrise" (1927), "The last laugh" (1924) & "Faust" (1926)

& I have seen D.W. Griffith's very impressive "Intolerance" (1916?), but have not yet seen his "Birth of a Nation"...

or "Dangerous Moonlight" (Warsaw Concerto 1941) or the psychological analysis of "La Femme en bleu" (with Michel Piccoli & Schubert's music)...

I was thinking more of posting what books or DVD's you have that you want to share and plan an exchange?

Okay let me get my books and I will start a sci fi exchange list here. Remember postage can be a B***ch to some of us.  Be gentle.

"Genesis of the Artificial Kidney" has been sent on to girliekick.  It took so long because my nephrologist borrowed it when I was done.  Please contact her if you would like the book next.  It is VERY interesting.  What a great book Nurse Wratchet is sharing with all of us.

Good idea, but not really viable outside the US because of the shipping times and cost.

The Genesis of the Artificial Kidney sounds very interesting, so I've bought it through Amazon.com ($22.30 plus $12.49 shipping 18-26 days).

Can I suggest that posters set out a short review of the books they are offering because overseas members might like to buy them?
