Me with Baron von Fresenius

« on: November 13, 2009, 03:58:05 PM »

I just got back from a National Kidney Foundation convention here in Indiana, and I actually dialyzed on stage with my NxStage! There were about 50 doctors, nurses, dietitians, etc. watching. My treatment was part of a presentation on the benefits of short daily home dialysis. Every one saw the machine, and knew there would be a demonstration with it, but they were shocked when they were told that I was going to dialyze myself right there. As far as I know, no one has ever done an actual dialysis treatment DURING a major convention. Even though I'm extremely tired from being there for the entire day long convention, I am so glad I had this opportunity to share this type of dialysis with so many dialysis professionals, most of whom had never seen it done. I actually felt honoured to be the one who was asked to do it, and I'll gladly do it again. Now I think I'm going to collapse and sleep for about a day and a half.  :waving;
