My name is Tasha. I have a Brother with steroid resistant FSGS (Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis )
He has been on Dialysis for 2 months now. He is not doing well and i have very little information to give him that is not regurgitated from doctors. Thats why I am here trying to be a good big sister.

Hello Big Sis,  and Welcome to our wonderful community and support group :)   First of all, let me start off by saying how lucky your brother is to have a Big Sister that not only loves him but cares enough to do research for him, your awesome girlfriend.  There is so much info here but if you cannot find what you are looking for, please, dont hesitate to ask and someone will be more than happy to help you.  He has only been on dialysis 2 months,  hopefully it will get easier and better with time,  dont give up, we are here for you and him also  :2thumbsup;  Good luck and keep us posted on his progress, ok,   Hope to hear more from you soon...   :grouphug;

Going through life tied to a chair!

Hey Big Sister, tell your brother that it is okay to hate dialysis.  The Doctors and social workers try and play it up and that is very frustrating when inside you are hating it and they make you feel like something is WRONG with you for thinking that way.  Don't let anyone deny his feelings.  Dialysis SUCKS but it keeps us alive.  Say it like it is, and maybe he will feel better about how he is feeling.

Take a look at the options for dialysis.  There are a few.  Please read some of the posts here.  It will help you and him.

Hi Tasha,

I have FSGS also (diagnosed in 1990).  This is a great place to get help and advice on dialysis and all things kidney. If I can be of help with info on FSGS please let me know. You might want to check out www.nephcure.org

Thanks for being a good big sister. I have one, too - she is giving me a kidney in December! :cuddle;

Welcome to our community!  My own brother died after 10 years on dialysis.  I continually regret that I never asked him exactly what he was going through.  He used to share a bit with me but now I realise that there was a lot that I didn't even understand.  I moved to another island his second year of dialysis.  He died in 2004 and I was diagnosed with ESRD in 2005.  So I commend you for your involvement in your brother's challenge. This is the place to get answers.  Keep reading, keep asking.
Welcome again.  :grouphug;
