Prayers for my sister
«
on:
October 24, 2009, 09:13:41 AM »
My sister, who so selflessly donated a kidney to me, recently found out that she has melanoma in her eye. It is wrapped 3/4 of the way around her optic nerve, so she will be having surgery next month at the University of Michigan to remove her eye. They are 90% sure that the cancer is contained but won't be sure until they do the surgery. Apparently when this type of cancer spreads it goes to the lungs and liver, and praise God both are cancer free and healthy.
Please keep her in your prayers - her name is Terri and her surgery is on November 20.

outcome for the surgery.

Sorry to hear Jill. It will take sometime getting use to for her. Speaking from my experience of being blind on one side, she maybe easily startled when coming up on her blind side and then into her visual field. Her hearing on that side of blindness may also become more acute to sound over time. It will be scarey at first land takes time to adjust.
Hope she does alright and the cancer has not spread.

My sister's surgery went off without a hitch. Everything went as expected and as we hoped. The surgeon removed her eye and removed the cancer, which was all contained and had not spread. She is back home recovering with a pressure patch on her eye. In 6 - 8 weeks she will get her prosthetic eye. Thank you everyone for your prayers!!!
