Star Trek (old new, whatever, I like it all.
Star Trek books (got to be so many coming out I cannot keep up with them)
Star Trek (My favorite one is the whales one)

So join me, won't you... on the search for intelligent life forms out there, new civilization, and we will boldly go...

If one was to gather up everything I have done in my life and then calculate percentage of time spent on each activity, I think that time spent watching Star Trek would win hands down... going to school/studying? Nope, Star Trek wins... socializing with friends or family either living out here or living in the computer? No again, Star Trek still wins! And, I have loved and am still enjoying every minute of it. The original is on every morning for the hour before we have to leave for dialysis.

Kitkatz, did you make it to the Star Trek Experience while in Las Vegas?

Star Trek 4 - The Journey Home (the whales one)
Star Trek 8 - First Contact (I loved Zephram Cochran as an accidental hero, and the actual first contact)
Star Trek 9 - Insurrection (slipped by practically unnoticed)
(I have also been appalled at some of the absolute garbage dumped on us in the form of Star Trek movies. The writers have committed treason against the name Star Trek and all of us Trekkers out here)

Due out on Christmas Day 2008 - Star Trek 11 - Star Trek (Kirk and Spock pre Star Trek with other actors playing them)

Ohhh, that one. I never saw the whole thing, but the parts I did watch on tv did not make me want to pay attention to it.. If it is on again on tv, I'll try to watch it again, but not going to make an effort to rent it.

I'm with you Jannie! The grossness is not horror. Is a cheap substitute for the talented storytelling and mastery of suspense that is so critical to quality horror.

I'll second that - slasher flicks don't do anything for me.  I can tolerate the gore better in something like "Saving Private Ryan", where they are showing something that is close to reality, but the blood and guts as entertainment just makes me queasy.
Just because they can show the blood spurting all over doesn't mean they should.  "Jaws" is still creepy and scary, and the was hardly a bloody scene in the whole thing.  That's the kind of scary movie I prefer - where it's left up to your imagination.

I gotta agree there, the scariest movies are those that don't actually show the violence/gore, it's all implied! That, and I do like the OLD movies better, they seem to be better than a lot of the current movies.

I watch all of my movies and DVD's of television shows at Dialysis and I now rate the quality or each production as to whether or not it takes me completely our of myself and allows me to forget I'm at Dialysis.

"Battlestar Galactica" is one of those shows that completely overtakes my imagination.  The new version takes the original elements of Glen A. Larson's first creation and twists them into a mosaic of powerful, compelling television.  I believe if you rent "Battlestar Galactica: The Miniseries" which basically takes place 40 years after the original show, you'll be hooked.  Great performances, fantastic writing and solid special effects add up to a fantastic piece of entertainment.

I am also a die hard "Star Trek" fan but if I were to choose one show, it would be "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine."  Much like "Battlestar Galactica" this show is darker and deals with a myriad of themes and plays like one long morality play.

I'm re-watching all the Star Trek movies and the Bonus Disc's at Dialysis right now.  Star Trek II - Star Trek IV are my favorites.  It is it's own little trilogy within all 6 films.  I remember reading where they were considering using the Star Trek novel "Probe" as the basis for Star Trek V.  Really a great book, a direct sequel to Star Trek IV, but unfortunately Shatner's ego required he write and direct Star Trek V.  I took some college friends to the theater and you know that early scene where Spock uses his gravity boots to dive down El Capitan to save Kirk?  When the audience burst out laughing I knew the film was doomed.

Here's hoping J.J. Abrams knows what he's doing with recasting all the original roles with younger actors.  One thing we've learned about Star Trek movies over the years though: Star Trek can turn ugly when it's slapped together with a limited budget.  I've heard Paramount wants this new Star Trek film to be epic.  It's about time Paramount paid some respect to their biggest tentpole franchise.

And yes, mock me if you must, but I've been to a Star Trek convention.  I didn't dress up, but it was a pretty exciting day.

I am naughty and download new "Heroes" (we are a couple weeks behind on TV here) and watch at Dialysis along with Californication(I have to be careful watching THAT around some of the older patients!!! Don't want to be responsible for a heart attack or something ), Family Guy, Chuck etc... if a show is good and it helps me not notice 45 or so minutes of dialysis then it rates for me. I am also going through Season 3 of new BSG - not yet on the horizion to screen down here - and it is amazing stuff. Really keeps me hooked.

Another show I recommend - Charlie Jade - a Canadian/South Africian production only lasted one season but a blow your mind kind of show....

Well i've just d/l ep 5 season 2.. the one that aired on Monday in the US (thank you naughty internet pirates!) but I am holding off (difficult I love this show!) watching till dialysis... at least there I can give it my full attention and alas don't have to be somewhere else....

The last ep I watched was "The Kindness of Strangers" where .... oh no I better not say

Don't talk about Monday's episode yet, I haven't watched it yet. I have it on the DVR since I have classes at night on Monday and the last couple days have been something, so hopefully I can watch it Thursday compared to watching it on my PC.

I became a big fan of Heroes this season. It would be nice to have that regeneration ability that girl has on the show... no more kidney problems!

I need some HELP!!
Not sure if I am all caught up on Heroes via nbc.com. Last episode they have on their site is when Hiro takes his dad back in time and finds out who killed his father, Noah is shot and wakes up from the dead in some bed. So what happened on Monday nights episode on 11/26, or am I still missing an episode or two that's not on the nbc site yet?

That's Season 2, Episode 10... only 1 more to go darn you writers strike!
